Hi Guy's + Girl's ,

Drove to Bells in my lunchbrake today as it was pumping at Torquay this morning but the wind has shifted more onshore now.

The pic's are poor quality taken from my mobile , 50 crew in the car park and two guy's actually surfing but the morning surf would have been packed out here with off shore light wind.

The sound these waves make was amazing and the crowd was going crazy when one guy surfed a bomb set from Bells to Winki .....and got flogged.

Plan to have my first surf in 5 weeks this weekend after injuring my back , think i might hit the river first...........and find my wetty.

Rich

Hey Rich,
I just snuck into work after having taken a few hours off to surf Merricks this morning.

Massive tide around 3 metres, so there was lot's of water over the reef early.

Current state of buoy Online

Approx. time of reading 29/04/2010 15:07
Significant wave 3.88 metres
Maximum wave 6.09 metres
Significant period 13.6 seconds
Peak period 18.2 seconds
Mean magnetic direction 203.1 °
Latitude 3821.600S1
Longitude S14441.500E
Water temperature 17.9 °C

Earlier around midday the wave buoy bounced off 8 metres!!

I was taking off 120 metres further down from where I usually would as it was breaking so wide! I felt like I was sitting in the middle of the bay.
Suffice to say, I wasn't on my Sup today.
Very memorable

Hi Warwick ,

That's insane !!!.......120m off normal is breaking real wide !!!
The swell is peaking here now , those who know Fisho's at Torquay there is no spare car parks to be seen it's smokin and crowded.

Hi Tux ,
5-months in a cast is not fun , enjoy your paddle !

Thanks Robdog just need to take it easy for a while.

Hi Piros ,
water temp is still nice but the wind chill has arrived , wish i was back in QLD.

Yeah Rich,
I understand with Fisho's.

I've never seen so many guys on short boards surfing Merricks before!

Cool thing was there were peaks everywhere, so crew were pretty spread out.

Hope your recovery goes well, you deserve to get back into the water.

Find your steamer though.

Wednesday was actually the pick. Winki was nuts !

Periods of back to back sets, feeling like 20 waves sets.... After getting one all the way through lowers, on the paddle back I saw Chicken slotted for a nice long barrel, and about 3 waves after that another regular took off, added an immediate high face stalling bottom turn, and tucked into a nice barrel, then unleashed a brilliant combo of turns, and hooked back into an even longer barrel into lowers. 11 out of 10.

Thursday was a touch unridable, and today was respectable, still solid, but not as clean as Wednesday.

Simondo, that's quite enough considering I was in meetings in Melbourne all arvo.

Rich, good luck with the back, mate. Hit the river and then get stuck into the next big low coming through

cheers
steve
