I thought it would be cool for people to post their favourite SUP surfing shots all in one place. A thread that could grow over time like the "sexy girls on sups" one. It might be a radical move, big wave or just someone styling it up.
Here's one of your local boys to get it started....... rail carves and full body/paddle extension yeewww!
Justin Holland
That Teahupoo shot of Vetea David is a classic. That break always makes me shake my head in disbelief.
Luke Egan:
Also trying to find another Luke pic of him on a bigger board on a fairly sized wave with the board layed right over on its rail, most fins out, and him at full extension with paddle, bloody amazing!
I reckon that pic of Luke Egan fired up a lot of crew. I had it as a screensaver and it definitely started me on the quest for the grail.
Nowhere near as good as Big Lukes but its all about putting yourself in places you've never been before!
Cheers

Sparx, not far off it mate....thats bloody wicked! I would rather see that than the typical board parrallel with wave, shove paddle in, and slide board around tail out... As I ride a bigger board, for me its about drawing the curves out rather than down the line, slide, down the line slide etc
That board Luke is on above is a PU Blank. You can tell it's a Burford as they make them by blowing 3 blanks to make 2 SUP Blanks, that's what the lines are beside the stringer, glue lines where they join the blanks. It's actually from an old sailboard mould. There's a heap of money worth of chemical in them so they don't make them light as the lighter you go the greater chance of failure you get, it's a costly mistake.
They get the 3rd blank and cut strips which are glued either side of the stringer like this one or as additional strips outside of the stringer.
I spoke to Burfords about this as in South Africa many SUP shapers are making PU's with Epoxy resin around 5.5 kilo's. They say they go way better than EPS which I find very interesting as there were many things I miss about my PU SUP. They said they could experiment with weights for a project I wanted to embark upon to look at the performance character of different materials in identical boards.
My shaper Dan McDonald (DMS) knows Luke well and he always said that he preferred the way PU's went.......
If you can find a DVD called "Right Foot Forward" it has some footage of Luke Egan ripping on what looked like a 9-10' SUP. If you havnt seen it, its some of the best SUP surfing I have ever seen, unforunatly I have seen alot
saw this pic in ALB advertisement for Naish thought it was very impressive! another one for the girls.
