A friend of a friend is a big wave surfer in SA, and shared these nuggets...

Hey Laurie, are you sure those are at Sunset? They look a little too close to shore for Sunset as the reef is a fair way out. Nice pics anyhow.

Here are some pictures of when Ivan & Reinhard Fourie ventured out and experienced some true African Power on Stand Up Paddle Boards at Sunset Reef.

Enjoy!

Sweet pics Laurie and Btrd. I was lucky enough to spend 10 months in Capetown in 84, lived right next to Komekie (can't spell it) and Noerdhook. Had unbelievable waves during my stay. Loved Capetown!!

Hey Downwinder, how good is Mosel Bay!

Hey MikeMan, yes it is Sunset, it's just looks deceptively closer in the pic. That was a session with Chris and Greg Bertish last year.

I'm told they're at Sunset (not been there myself) .. looks like a pretty ballsy place. KingDom, being a native would know!

As for that photo of the guy just making it (hopefully) over the lip - surely your heart would be in your mouth and paddling like a windmill in 40 knots?!

Yes, anyone who charges big waves (on anything) in Cape Town is pretty balsy - the water is absolutely freezing! Then there is the Kelp...and the big Jonnys too.
