Just got back from my Christmas holidays on Hamilton Island in Queensland with the family. We flew up with 3 inflatable SHUBU Sup's , 2/ 10-2's & a 9-2 .Only got these a couple of days before I left from Andrew Allen at Balmoral Paddle Surf , I was a bit sceptical at first until up I blew them up , it blew me away how rigid and tough they were. The kids loved them and gave them an absolute flogging. Even my 81 year old Dad was paddling them
With the crap Queensland weather were having the blow up's were priceless with everyone paddling them in the rain and having a ball , anyone could jump on , I even paddled around Hamilton Island itself on one 16km....
The boards roll up and fit into a back pack with the pump and fins the 9-2 fully packed was apx 15kg and you just threw it on your back and checked it in with your other luggage.
it only takes a few minutes to blow them up.

Great stuff! I was skeptical about blow ups but this has totally changed my mind. Great for the wife and visitors to play around on.
This morning I coached a group of our Chinese young friends on my 9'3 C4 iSUP. None of em had surfed before, and every one of em paddled out and glided in on little swells. They blew their minds.
Here is a quick surf clip at currumbin today in terrible conditions......are they great surf Sup boards ...not really but they are still fun in the surf , very easy to ride but don't expect to be chucking buckets on them.
We are going to hit the rapids at Nymboida River on Sunday....watch this space

These boards are the first 3 into Australia , spoke to Andrew Allen today at Balmoral Paddle surf (AA) here on the breeze , the first boards will be available in March and will retail for around $800 to $900 , I'll be sending 2 of demos back to Andrew early next week in Manly so give Andrew a call if you want a demo.
After seeing that I sort of miss my ULI now.
The memory I have is that my ULI was suprisingly heavy - I think 16kg deflated. It was also a bit of a workout pumping it up, especially the last few. And it was a bit of a pig in the surf, wasn't much good for fishing either - unless you use blunt hooks.
Other than that, great durable learning/holiday board if you have submissive kids and don't have roof racks.
What do those baby's weigh?
These SHUBUs look like they've got a better fin set up than the ULIs. Just having that removable centre fin instead of a permanent and fairly small centre fin implies that they will be able to offer options.
