Sunshine Coast / Gold Coast, Queensland, Tuesday, June 19, 2012: AFTER the Sunshine Coast claimed a historic one-point victory over arch rivals the Gold Coast in last year's inaugural World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin Interclub Series, 2012 will see one of Australian surfing's oldest rivalries reignited once again.
The seven-event World Surfaris Coast-of-Origin, sees surfers of all disciplines and ages, represent their respective boardriding clubs, their region and ultimately their 'coast' - uniting Queensland's grass-roots surfing community in an amazing interclub competition.
Kicking off this weekend (June 23-24), boardriding clubs from Duranbah to Noosa are busy preparing their competitors, ahead of preliminary 'Area Challenges' on both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
Area Challenges see each coast divided into two divisions, with Club's on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast preparing to do battle.
Sunshine Coast Area Challenge South - Caloundra to Maroochydore
Sunshine Coast Area Challenge North - Mudjimba to Noosa
Gold Coast Area Challenge South -Duranbah to Palm Beach
Gold Coast Area Challenge North - Burleigh to North Stradbroke Island
From there, Sunshine Coast 'Regional Challenges' and Gold Coast 'Regional Challenges' (July 21-22) will see the best qualifying surfers from the Area Challenges in the North and Area Challenges in the South compete to finalise representative teams ahead of the concluding 'State Challenge' where a champion 'Coast' will be crowned for 2012.

Just entered our team. Full team in SUP and Long board divisions. The field is strong in all areas. We were the Champion Club in 2011, let see if we can do it again.
Any club members that are able to assist with the set up for the Coast Of Origin please send me a message or call 0412017416. We will be setting up just before 6am on Saturday 21st of July.
Venue will either be Pearce Park Maroochydore or Anne Street depending on Surf.
Here is a little clip
For the Gold Coast event, because SUPSA is the only Gold Coast Club, we don't need to contest the Area challenge and we put a team straight forward into the Gold Coast Regional challenge on 21st or 22nd July (next weekend).
For anyone wanting the be considered for the SUPSA team for next weekends comp, this Sunday's club round will decide the final team. Venue for club round on sunday is still TBA.
Don't forget to enter this if you are involved in Coast of Origin. Sorry to all those reading this who are not but it is limited to those as described below. World Surfaris do great trips and have really got behind this event.

Excellent weekend of surfing. Great effort by many club members not only in their surfing but also in their massive effort in setting up the event for all the other clubs or by assisting with gear and tasks. Special mention to PT and Jonsey who worked all weekend to ensure the event went smoothly.
Well done all.
Thanks swanie, pt, pj, and all competitors that made it a fun sesh today despite the trying conditions!
The State challenge dates have changed. They are now the 8th and 9th of September. I am not sure of the reason for the date change.
Venue on the Sunshine Coast is yet to be confirmed.
Tough weekend for the comp on the Goldie , in the over 45's Wayne , Ritcho , Myself & Scotty qualified.
Myself and Jenny Johnston in the womens - we were the only 2 who showed up so we didn't even get to surf our heat.
Open mens supercharge final was won by Matt Prior, ahead of Steve Richardson and Peasey. Not sure who else went through for the opens?
