Just confirmed, DC boards - Dale Chapman is coming across especially for the race. He will be partnered by WA's fastest female and State Rep Michelle England (she won't like me saying that - but she is!). Pretty impressive team!

NBA great - Luc Longley has also confirmed.

Entries filling quickly. Remember anyone can enter, all levels. This is a fun race and a great way to get into the SUP scene. Family friendly presentations at the Tradewinds and free food with entry fee!

Enter via - greggokerr@gmail.com and pay on the day.

SB charts for sunday look perfect for a Narrows Bridge start with NE winds. However Willy Weather is saying SE for Sunday. I have found Willy Weather to be pretty good. I guess things can change a bit during the week and it could go either way and an easterly in general is a good result as the weather looks great.

Maybe Stimo or someone else has some experience in paddling the course in a SE be interested to know. Narrows to Pt Walter in a SE could be a bit side shore.

The course can be reversed depending on the conditions. We'll keep an eye on it toward the end of the week.

Wow 5 husband and wife teams thats gotta be a division in it's own right. Sadly Stimo refuses to race with his wife which would of boosted the division even more.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE*

Registration will take place on the eastern side of The Narrows Bridge from 8-8:30am. If you are planning on registering on the day please arrive early to allow for your details to be put into the system. On the day entries will be accepted $25 for SUP WA members and $35 for none SUP WA members. This entitles you to free food at the Tradewinds and all race and door prizes.

Race briefing will be at 8:30 at the start line for a 9am start (no later as a DoT requirement and to avoid boat traffic). Starting procedure will be explained on the day. As everyone has to register at the start everyone should be able to watch the start adding to the excitment and then head off to Pt Walter as needed.

Leashes are mandatory and will be inspected at the start and change over if two boards are being paddled. PFD's are at paddlers discretion but not compulsory.

Presentations will be at the Tradewinds at 1pm, however everyone is invited up from midday on and you must be there to win one of the many prizes kindly donated by our sponsors The Commonwealth Bank, SOS Surf, Tradewinds Hotel and Morrison Clothing.

All processes for change over will be explained on the day, but please keep in mind you may want to do the car shuffle prior to briefing to make sure you do not have to drive back to the start and miss out on presentations.

Team members who have paddled the first leg are more than welcome to accompany their team member in during the second legto the finish line.

It is not too late to enter with online entries closing midnight tomorrow night, otherwise and additional $5 for on the day entry.

Looking forward to an exciting day with 25 teams entered so far making it WA's biggest paddling fleet EVER! So get along and be part of another first presented by SUP WA.

We have to do a wave start like the Avon to keep the group together. The Avon had 2minutes between waves of 12'6 and then 14'/unlimited. You caught the 12'6 leaders at halfway Stimo!
We will have 3minutes between waves for the BTB - not a handicapped start, just logistical to keep the authorities happy. The handicapping is in the final formula. The 10' boards could have an advantage!

Ok, just trying to understand this - even though we'll start 6 minutes behind (thanks to my partners super long board) our overall time will actually be 6 minutes less than actual clock time on the finish line and this is the time will be used with the formula as a handicap for board sizes?

For example - clock at finish lines reads 1:36 - we started 6 minutes behind so it's 1:36-0:06 = 1:30 (overall time) therefore 90 minutes x (16' + 12'6)/100 = 25.65 as the final score?

Yes that's right Jac. It's called a wave start (it's an option on racesplitter) we start you in 3 waves 3 minutes apart and this time is deducted off your finish time. It's not handicapping its just managing a large group of paddlers so they are not strung out in a long line down the river and potentially interferring with ferry/boating traffic (from the DoT point of view). The Formula will be apllied to your finish time to determine the first 3 placegetters.
I think the plumber has been doing his sums, becasue you guys have a pretty competitive handicap.
