Planning a DW tomorrow midday North Geelong around point Henry and down to Clifton springs boat ramp ... Approx 16km forecast 25-30 knott WNW should set up some nice runners ... Anyone keen let me know.
Thanks for the offer Dave.. I'm looking forward to doing more DW'ers on Corio bay.
I'll let you know if I'm coming down.. Getting back in time for work is my main concern.
DJ
No worries DJ launching from foreshore park at the end of seabreeze parade North Shore (North Geelong) will be a dead downwind run to Clifton Springs with a WNW wind. Around 1pm
Cheers
Hey DJ some big runners out there once got closer to point Henry and beyond... starts out dead calm for first few hundred metres until the wind hits the water and builds gradually so great for first timers (in fact to point henry its about 6 kms and would be a perfect intro paddle) going past point henry tip is a lot of fun as its only about 3 feet deep so runners pitch up into small waves. Further on you paddle right past the Alcoa jetty that extends out 400 metres and from there the swell picks up again and pushes you direct to Clifton Springs boat ramp. I actually caught a runner past the stone wall break turned right into the protected water behind the wall and glided into the boat ramp in calm water.... kept nice and dry the whole paddle :)
The launch spot has a nice grassy park and a path down to the waters edge with a clean sandy beach so easy starting point.
Took just on 2 hours.
Woz nice work on sun valley one of my favourite runs under the Bull run Chair.... Think I might head Monday if weather good :)
