DC entering the Tulip race in Amsterdam

The tulip race was on this week end.
30 mn away from Amsterdam, 23.5km to paddle in the middle of the tulip fields. quite amazing the smell you get from this experience.
The SUP category was won by Rico Leroy on a DC17 for its 1st european race.
After the race both boards were put on a local boat so we could finally paddle in the center of amsterdam where we were expected for dinner.
A fantastic week end and a big thank you to Jeff the owner of the boat and to Guy from WOO outrigger to lend me a DC15.

Hey Lacey, now that Dale has finished that 3 day river paddle there are no excuses. I get back from Phuket on the weekend so hopefully the boards will be ready by then. I'm really amped to see how they go...

The thread is about DC boards. Laceys comment was on topic and relevant. How about you shut your face and get back to working out the details of your divorce or whatever the hell else it is thats made you such a sad f*ck.

how about someone start a post regarding DC's race boards, both FW and DW and talk about development and such, then over time it becomes a record of the different designs and results of designs. just keep updating as a new board comes out. It would be easy for everyone to follow and see improvements etc

actually, i put a flatwater 14' in the water friday. it's not super flat like the new naish, but flater then a normal board for sure.it was decided to experiment a bit, so really acute chimes were done with the edges left hard. that didn't go so well, so over the weekend i sanded them back as much as i dared and had a good improvement. hooked up with dale after the charity run and he was good enough to sand them back just till the foam showed and glassed them back up. we put the board back in the water this arvo. well, i'm really pleased with it now- great glide and like it should for a flatwater board, is faster then the board dale paddled in the charity event. we even went to the creek mouth for a few wave/runners. massive improvement there too. the board still has some tail rocker and edges which made the handling pretty good when i stepped back. i'm with jacko, i see no reason why you can't dw fw boards in light winds and i'm keen to try it out now. exciting times are a coming with all these boards around. the naish is a really cool board and wouldn't mind seeing the new starboards too

That DC16 is a great bluewater downwinder but won't be as fast as some of the other boards in flatter conditions. It was made for big runs and that is where it comes into its own. supbelly is going to have a whole lot of fun on that board (I certainly have). Unfortunately I had to sell it to help pay for the new DC15

Looking forward to seeing you guys over there soon. Hopefully we can get over there in either May/June.

What a great post! Great to see how SUP can be taken to other places around the world! I love the 10th pic - the ladies expression is priceless - I know from my experience teh amount of looks/ questions / stares once people see you on a SUP - but I can imagine the canals of amsterdamn... they would be wondering what on earth you were doing!

It just shows that you can take a SUP anywhere - and this is one of the best things about it!
