The tulip race was on this week end.
30 mn away from Amsterdam, 23.5km to paddle in the middle of the tulip fields. quite amazing the smell you get from this experience.
The SUP category was won by Rico Leroy on a DC17 for its 1st european race.
After the race both boards were put on a local boat so we could finally paddle in the center of amsterdam where we were expected for dinner.
A fantastic week end and a big thank you to Jeff the owner of the boat and to Guy from WOO outrigger to lend me a DC15.

mike and myself should see our 15'6 ocean down wind boards started this week. after testing the other boards, we sat down and nutted out some design changes that should be user friendly in the ocean and still be fast .they will be wave piercing type of board
cheers

Hey Lacey, now that Dale has finished that 3 day river paddle there are no excuses. I get back from Phuket on the weekend so hopefully the boards will be ready by then. I'm really amped to see how they go...

The thread is about DC boards. Laceys comment was on topic and relevant. How about you shut your face and get back to working out the details of your divorce or whatever the hell else it is thats made you such a sad f*ck.

Spare me a response because I D.G.A.F.

Yeah pure genius, I mean how irrelevant do you think a post about further development of Dale's board is within a post about Dales boards???

how about someone start a post regarding DC's race boards, both FW and DW and talk about development and such, then over time it becomes a record of the different designs and results of designs. just keep updating as a new board comes out. It would be easy for everyone to follow and see improvements etc

Probably a good time for this would be once Lacey and I get our new boards made. These boards are really the 3rd generation of DC distance boards. If everything works out according to plan they should be both fast in FW and also be good in DW runs.

Lacey would probably be a good author of this thread as he has been very active in the design input.

a little birdie told me the other day that Dale may be coming over to WA for the Whalebone Battle of the Paddle Race this year and might be bringing one or more of his new generation of boards with him?

Can this be denied or confirmed?

I'm not sure about what Dale is up to with the whalebone, but did offer to come over myself and do a "downwind clinic" with you guys. Dale will probably join me as we are really keen to help out with the development of the sport in Oz. After the recent incident in Victoria it seems like it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

supbelly is now the proud owner of my orange DC16 (which is on the way over to WA). I offered to help him and any of you guys over there. As the sport is relatively new in WA you don't need to re-learn the lessons we have already learnt along the way.

Hopefully we can catch up with you guys soon...

Thanks Mike

Yup, like half of Perth I am one of the ones Bob Mugabe didnt want around.

Having you guys over here would be great let us know when you are thinking of coming over.

I knew supbelly was thinking of going bigger because he was worried I was catching him on the downwind runs.

That little whore now I really have to amp up the savings for a 16/17 footer.

actually, i put a flatwater 14' in the water friday. it's not super flat like the new naish, but flater then a normal board for sure.it was decided to experiment a bit, so really acute chimes were done with the edges left hard. that didn't go so well, so over the weekend i sanded them back as much as i dared and had a good improvement. hooked up with dale after the charity run and he was good enough to sand them back just till the foam showed and glassed them back up. we put the board back in the water this arvo. well, i'm really pleased with it now- great glide and like it should for a flatwater board, is faster then the board dale paddled in the charity event. we even went to the creek mouth for a few wave/runners. massive improvement there too. the board still has some tail rocker and edges which made the handling pretty good when i stepped back. i'm with jacko, i see no reason why you can't dw fw boards in light winds and i'm keen to try it out now. exciting times are a coming with all these boards around. the naish is a really cool board and wouldn't mind seeing the new starboards too
cheers
ps sorry,no photos, they seem to get on some peoples gander

only when they start to cross post in every other thread.

Lacey start a dedicated DC raced boards thread and keep updating it....it can only be a good thing for DC and the sport.

maybe the other brands can follow as well and do dedicated threads. it will help keep the peace and be great for punters to read/see and make choices from. rather than trying to remember little bits and pieces from this or that thread and searching for hrs to not find it....

no one can complain about you posting information and pics about DC boards in a thread you start about DC boards

That DC16 is a great bluewater downwinder but won't be as fast as some of the other boards in flatter conditions. It was made for big runs and that is where it comes into its own. supbelly is going to have a whole lot of fun on that board (I certainly have). Unfortunately I had to sell it to help pay for the new DC15

Looking forward to seeing you guys over there soon. Hopefully we can get over there in either May/June.

What a great post! Great to see how SUP can be taken to other places around the world! I love the 10th pic - the ladies expression is priceless - I know from my experience teh amount of looks/ questions / stares once people see you on a SUP - but I can imagine the canals of amsterdamn... they would be wondering what on earth you were doing!

It just shows that you can take a SUP anywhere - and this is one of the best things about it!
