For anyone that is interested, a few of us are going for a 6.15am paddle from Half Moon Bay this Wedneday morning.
These calm, balmy summer mornings are too good to not paddle!!
We'll be paddling back towards Sandy, perhaps up to Hampton, depending upon everyone's time constraints.
Hey Warwick,
Been trying to motivate myself for something like this but nothing like someone to spur you on.
Will it be a return trip. ie start at half moon , finish there too ?
Cheers
Paul
ps. getting the North race Ltd2010 really dialled now - yeehaw..
Hi Paul,
happy to give you a wake up call on the day!!
Yep, the paddle will start and finish at Half Moon. People can paddle for as long or little as they wish.
It was still alittle dark when I started this morning, but the contrast of the lights around the bay with the sun eventually coming up is a bloody nice way to start the day. Nice change from the bike!
Great to hear about the Race Ltd. Look forward to hearing about your progress Wed.
Happy to give you a wake up call to Paul!!
I'm sure it'll be worth the effort.
See you tomorrow arvo for your board pick up.
CONDITIONS LOOKING GREAT FOR THE MORNING!
Forecast for Wednesday
Winds: Variable wind to 10 knots and afternoon and evening seabreezes to 20
knots. Seas: Below 0.5 metres increasing to 1 metre by early evening. Patchy
morning fog with reduced visibility. The chance of thunderstorms in the
afternoon and evening.
Temp is supposed to be a very mild 22 degrees
A few of us will be there and paddling just before 6am, but we'll set off 6.15 - 6.30, paddle for an hour. Round trip back to Sandy is around 40 - 60 mins.
At this stage there should be 8 - 10 of us.
I have been out on the water the last few mornings and it's been just beautiful. Tomorrow will be good too, so I would love to come along Warwick, but unfortunately tomorrow is the one morning this week that I have to be at work really early. So those that go along - enjoy!
Was it worth getting up at 5am to paddle with some mates.. You Bet-cha.. .. It was one of those hot summers nights where you couldn't sleep anyway..
Getting there it seemed like it was still the middle of the night.
We were soon off and there were at least ten of us.
Paul (PT Cruiser) had his new Starboard Pin... Very nice.
After paddling up to sandy and back we checked out the sinking Cerberus.
Mick was on his 12' PSH gun.
Warwick dives in to cool off.
The water there at Half Moon Bay is always crystal clear.
What a great way to start the day.
DJ
Nice pics DJ, I'd forgotten how we arrived in total darkness. Glad there wasn't a big swell or westerly gusts at that point or they may have been picking us out of the Cerberus hull.
And as a side note in the form of a product review, the Starboard Pin in the conditions we has this morning, makes even the hackiest hack paddler carve through the water with a hint of speed.
Now I just have to get my backside into gear to edit and post some video.
Looks nice.
Hey Paul, is the wood veneer version of the SB Pin meant to be lighter than the one's JC and Cam have? What is the price difference?
Cheers
Bren
I was in the other day and found this out. Its supposed to be a few kgs lighter (not sure how many) and the price diff is about +$600
Not sure on weight but after I catch up with Cam and/or Jonathan, I'll let you know. I think that's about right with the price (+$600), though Warwick at RPS looked after me nicely. However this one may be the last timber top Pin in the country and as you may well know, they are discontinuing not only the Pin, but the Sport Tech timber finish. Mind you the Surf Race and Free Race carbon white/red stripe replacement designs look pretty incredible.
Here's some video of what you missed if you didn't take up Warwick's offer to join the Sunrise SUP club...
Very nice production Paul.
You've really managed to capture the mood!
I'm off to Japan next week to snowboard, but as soon as I get back we'll resume the "Sunrise Club". ( nice pick Al!)
Cheers
Warwick
great morning for a paddle but not for the poor scuba diver that went missing late Tues night, from about 10 wednesday morning there was helicopters, police boats and divers all over half moon bay and beyond , this morning more police boats and divers scouring the cerberus with tv cameras filming, haven't heard if the guy has been found, hopefully all ends well
