Anyone got any info on what's happening over in Fiji with the "World Tour" Event? Wasn't the down wind race supposed to be on today....
"After an epic day of action here in Fiji, history is made at the Namotu World Paddle Challenge, presented by Air Pacific, as Maui's Connor Baxter storms to a landmark victory on the long distance downwind run from Natadola Beach to Namotu Island.
Finishing 8 minutes behind, in 2nd place and also from Maui was 2x Stand Up Paddlesurfing World Champion Kai Lenny.
Behind Kai from New Zealand was Jeremy Stephenson, stepping up to battle ahead of Jake Jensen from Australia, Noa Ginella from Oahu and Slater Trout from Maui.

YAH!!!!
Awesome Jakey!! So happy for him.
Jake has been training super hard the last few weeks
XX angie
4th place a great result for young Jake!!!
Best of luck to him and Andy in the surf race later in the week.
It doesn't seem like that long ago teatree was trying to convince Jake to get into sup and now he is up there mixing it with the best. With a number of good results lately in all different types if races its only a matter of time until he cracks a big win.
Got an email from Annabel Anderson today "I was the only girl who did the long distance race yesterday and it was brutal, 3 guys pulled out and it was a lot longer than it was supposed to be. All good though and it just makes you appreciate the days that you feel good! It was pretty cool to paddle past Cloud Breaks."
Annabel will be arriving in Melbourne on Saturday so check out the dates of the Starboard SUP Demo Tour and either book in for a clinic with Annabel, just drop by for a chat or try one of the 2012 Starboard demo boards.

Wonder how Downwinder went on his custom Namotu 12'6 board, made specifically for Fiji? Looks like he's in the video at the start of the race but not in the results list?
What a trip , just got home.Jake went really well and would have learnt a lot , he was made a few mistakes that cost him an even better result. He well and truly showed what he can do on the final day , beating Connor , Kai and just getting pipped by Slater in a run up the beach to determine outright third place overall.
The surf race was epic , with some really hard conditions , once you hit the reef the waves where jacking up and had quite a bit of power , if you got through the break unscathed you had a massive bonus , once outside it was back inside again only to battle gainst the current and waves again , before the run home. Most competitors had to back up 5 times on this one lap course to make it to the final.
Got to surf Cloudbreak , unfortunately it was far from epic , but good to be there any way.Not sure i would like to surf the place on the sup if it was bigger than 4ft ,The reef is gnarly
Had a great time , the event itself was a bit unorganized and getting boards to and from events was a real hassle and could have been real costly too if not for Victoria and Jeremy from NZ hooking us up with Woodie for some cheap boat rides.Cant be too harsh though first time , i guess they will sort a few things out for next time.
I can understand why Downwinder raves about Namotu Island though , wow what a surfers paradise that place is
Jeez Teatree you're a hard man to please. Every race started on time. You guys rang us the night before to say you were here. Jake then had FREE transport from and back to Namotu twice plus free transport from the mainland to Natadola not to mention the FREE lunches. Do all the other races send taxis to your homes to pick up the competitors before a race? We are always open to constructive criticism but everyone else had a blast and the amount of work that goes into these things is mindblowing.
Why don't you organise one yourself. Trust me it's a thankless task.
I accept your criticism but remember I was a SPONSER and not the organizer. That was Watermans League. The fact of the matter is it costs 90.00 minimum for guys to take you out in boats. That is the going price and that is only for three hours. It will be bigger and better next year but what people will find out if you try and do it on the cheap it will end up costing you more in the long run
