Not good. Such a magic morning. Hope our good friend got plenty of waves.
Last week I paddled in because a dead seal was floating in the water.
Yesterday while surfing we could see plenty of whales out the back.
This morning I checked the same spot, just around the corner from Lefties, where I usually surf on my own and it didn't feel right so went home to see what the fam was doing. They were heading out to the paddock so I went back to the beach and saw the commotion.
It's put a dark cloud over a beautiful day.
Rest in peace brother.

Greenie can you confirm if you live there, i have been told of a local Fisherman (wet line i think) who continues to wash down and pump out holding tanks on his mooring in the bay? Even though by law he must be out at sea to do so

Sad day R.I.P

Stay safe Hilly. We're seeing more of them over here Hilly but not as many as you. Raining in Merimbula apparently so it's not as good as last year........but they do have a small waves. Hope to get you over again next year.

Will spend 6 weeks down there soon. Last paddle I had at an outer reef down there, solo a couple of weeks ago, felt seriously sketchy. Used to not even think about sharks, now hard not to.

Poor Bloke I hope it was quick I'd say Gracetown is a big Caf'e hang spot for Great Whites I wouldn't be surprised if it was this big black thing that was on this program that took him? she looked like one mean f##k scary! The Search For The Ocean’s Super Predator iview.abc.net.au

I wont say RIP I recon he's surfing the universe hanging with the silversurfer enjoying the after life.

There has been 4 shark attacks on Maui since July 2 off them fatal I believe around the Maliko run. I nearly ran over a big 8ft Tiger shark last year while I was on a runner doing a Maliko run I sh#t "Help Me Please Mr Wizard"

Was a local Sunshine Coast guy. So sad.

THE Queensland surfer killed by a shark off the coast of Western Australia on Saturday has been remembered as a "legend and inspiration".

Chris Boyd, 35, from Queensland's Sunshine Coast, died in waters off Gracetown, about 300 kilometres south of Perth.

The keen surfer, known to his friends as "Boydy", moved from Queensland to WA only a year ago to chase big swells.
Members of his former club, Coolum Boardriders, said his death was a "massive loss" to the Sunshine Coast's surfing community.

In a post on the group's Facebook page, the club said: "The surfing world and in particular the Yaroomba surf community today has suffered a massive loss."

I was thinking about this awful & sad event when we visited the Eden Whale Museum and saw this on the wall............. it was all about the different kinds of watercraft that aboriginees built around the Australian coastline.

That says it all Mel! Just shows that the big grey fellas are the real locals and were cruising those waters long before we decided it would be a nice to play. RIP 'Boydy'.
