Went for a surf this morning at the Alley and was stoked to see the swell had finally picked up.I paddled onto a bigger one that was breaking just about on top of me and got creamed big time.

I ended up landing on one of the fins of my board ,and realised after I could put my finger in the hole in my right butt cheek that I'd better go in and have a look.

Off to the docs and had 3 nurses helping put in 4 stitches

Spewing as I am out for a few days and the swell is on the rise.......bummer

My wife thinks it's funny as she is married to a guy with 2 holes in his bum!.

Posted these shots as a gentle reminder of the dangers of fins and the damage they can inflict.

2 eyes and a nose and you'd have yourself a little smiley face

Bad luck mate and I hope it gets better soon. Did ya rip your boardies?

Nasty mate, did you get one before one got you

No injury is good, but I can only imagine it could have
been much worse with a solid landing

Ouch...What was your fin configuation. Thruster?
I was out there this morning . The 9' was a challenge but great when on the wave. I lost it standing still and took a fall on the rail. Bruised or cracked ribs.. Seems the general consensus is 4 weeks out of the water.
PLease someone tell me it only takes a week. What is the damage if you don't wait?? Can't get up from lying position without the kids grabbing my arms.Once up its ok 'til I breath.

Feel for you rustle, cracked ribs are sooo painful. I have done mine a few times (footy & surfing) and yep unfortunately 4 weeks recovery is about right. Dont know if you can do any further damage if you dont wait but they just wont heal

fins suck

just snapped a side fin out of my new stick this morning (snapped at the tabs) board no damage

so i came in and wacked in another fin and went back out

and within 15mins chopped the the same side fin in the arse and this time snapped it and destroyed one of the plugs thus leaving a big mess where the plug once was

nice work

no blood tho
