Check the latest forecast, 7m ENE swell, tropical cyclone Ului. Don't know if I've seen a swell like this before.
It will probly change a little but still, looks like it's gonna be solid.

Been checking all of my usual forecasts etc this morning just so I know how scared to be.
Most are still very uncommital of predicting the full effect of this swell as cyclones are very unpredictable. There is another one out there as well.
Eg. Seabreeze has a North East swell with a predominant SE wind. If you've watched cyclone swells in the past even though the cyclone is in the North the swell is created by a pressure gradient by ridging against a High as per this system. This scenario perhaps is in an indication of the models used being also very unsure of the forecast.
These swells are usually still SE swells, occasionally E. 7m is a very big swell but the biggest actual clean swell I can remember is TC Sose. Low winds, big clean long period SE swell. This has 40knot winds, meaning full scale victory at sea and even cancellation of Noosa late next week if it really plays out to full expectation.
I don't own a jetski so I guess I'm just hoping that the 40 knot wind, 7m swell scenario does not play out as all it leaves us with no banks. My tip would be surf as much this week in the lead up and ideal conditions as possible as if this swell event happens there will be nothing left for a while afterwards.
^^^Yeah your right and if it does come it will be chaos. Last year we had a few pretty solid swells and they do a good job of removing a lot of the sand from the beaches and the points.
One of the swells we had last year left main beach as a massive rockwall with waves going over it and through the restaurants. If the swell stays really E to NE like it is now the beaches will be a mess by the ned of it.
I'm sure we'll get some good waves with the start of it though.
Lets see how it all plays out.

Keahi, does First point handle swells as big as is forecast? or does it just go big and fat and outta control?
The call is for a 7 meter swell on a 14 sec period by Sat - still a fair way off of course.
Every year this event attracts big swell but just before the comp gets going the swell dies in the arse .......this year maybe the exception.
Saturday is looking good/great (fingers crossed) I'll be up Thursday night with all my camera crew and gear.
Rob
Did you enter Teatree?
Thursday should be pretty good I would think as it doesn't kick in huge til Sat.
PS: Jacko you back surfing yet? I am guessing not.
Nah not just yet, I went for my first SUP this morning on the flat water and it felt good but not up to handling the waves just yet. I'm trying hard to get the muscle back in it now so hopefully i wont miss all the waves.
