What is the better helmet for SUP i see some gath have a rather large plastic visor which im sure you would not want to be cracked into your face.

ive got the one with the visor and yes it has been obliteratored into my face by my boards countless times

but before it was smashed up it could be adjusted up and down to cover my melon from the sun and pelting rain

i prefer the old school gaths that have more plastic around the ears

mine is a visor that pulls all the way down...not the hat brim looking one

that helmet is the jedi BP

Make your choice from here:

gathsports.com/

I reckon the Gedi are too heavy. The surf hat looks the go.

Not knocking your ability as I don't know you or your weight, but this is a keen choice for someone who may not ever had ridden a SUP before. With all your post you may be keen but it is a sport that you progress with and reduce size as you go. If you are a realistic buyer I hope it suits your needs.

Buy the helmet.

Do you know what is costs kiwis in nz to do such a thing. $6900 for 3 boards

Now you may see we just get on and ride the next steep as its far to much loot to go from board to board

Plus the visors on the "old school" Gath had a habit of getting scratched pretty quickly from what I have seen, but this may be less of an issue on the newer rescue Gath.

Hey BP

I have the Surf Convertible and it's good for me, light and comfy and you can take the ear covers off if you want to make it even lighter.

Hope the C4 works out well it looks like a great board.

Yes, mainly agree. However, with some longer paddles on SUP's, and potential to paddle home into a setting sun, the sun visor might suit some people too. It is retractable.
