I will move hell and high( but not my ex wife
) water to get to what I feel is probably the premier flatwater paddling spot in Vic. Absolutely beautiful surrounds and the kids have a pool,sandy beach, carousel and ten k's of bike tracks. There is also a beautiful park at the top of the hill. They have the kids Weet bix Triathlons there and Little athletics has their Western region Cross country in the park. Absolutely inspired choice of venue!! Geelong Hospital is 200 metres away.

What sort of down winders and cruisers are going to be on offer to demo?
Gotta stick my hand in my pocket this summer...see what all this downwinder fuss is about and hopefully get a board the missus can paddle on the Barwon again.
Sometimes miss the old Uberfish...stand up got a little more selfish after I got rid of the old girl...the board not the wife!!

Hey sparx will definitely have a few 14 and 12'6 race boards and SUP Vic will be bringing a few of the clubs newly acquired naish 12'6 inflatable Niscoe boards which are surprisingly a nice board to paddle!

You wan't a go on the 2013 12'6" I bought off Nick, pretty amazing board? It'll give you an idea of what you want on the demo day I know your knee plays up and your area is the perfect spot for the 12'6"! Let me know if you do, no hassle, I was thinking of checking Glen Euse mid week with the NE and it always picks up more swell than 13th plus I can walk up there with out pain!!!!!
Here's the proposed course - 4.5km... 3 laps for A grade and 1 for B grade. unless wind is a strong factor and then the organiser has the rights to reduce A grade to 2 laps. This will be unlikely however ;)
Dave, great location for the event, should give flatwater racing a lot of exposure down in Geelong, looking forward to it..
I reckon if we can get more than 50 paddlers out on the water at once with a mass beach start it will look sensational!! I'll tip off the Geelong Advertiser to get some newspaper coverage too.. with the footy well and truly over and the cats holding the premiership cup again ;) we should be gold!!

I can get to the Eastern Beach event and back on a half tank of fuel. Island Challenge? Not so much.
Looking for anyone that has a power boat licence and that won't be racing that can volunteer to captain a very cool small boat as a marshal for the eastern beach race ? If you can help get in touch with me on here and will get back to you with details....

But yeah, the footy will be well and truly over and summer will be on it's way, so I'm sure it will be a great event. Plenty of places for good viewing from the shore, too.
Days are ticking down so make sure you go to SUP Vic and register your interest... Geelong needs all the support it can get after the pussies missed out on the final ! Well at least you won't need to put up with cats flags on every other car....
