Value for money, basic hotel across from beach Waikiki Circle, ocean front room.
On the beach, either outrigger reef or outrigger waikiki , the outrigger Waikiki has Dukes restaurant on site and great place for a beer.
Have stayed at a few others but these would be my choice for value and location

Circle good value just you and the wifey. Outrigger Waikiki (Dukes) great family pad right on the beach can't beat it.

Agree with Piros the Outrigger is the go,great getting up and having a surf check from your room.

We stayed at the outrigger reef. Slightly further down the beach (<5min walk) from the main strip. But right on the beach very similar layout to the other outrigger and often a few less takers on the break out the front door.

I have just got back from Maui and stayed last couple days in Waikiki and stayed at the HILTON VILLAGE and it was awesome. But becareful as there's two Hilton's so make sure you go to the Village as the other one is pretty average.

Shereton Princess kailulani is a good choice. Central to all of waikiki. Not right on the beach but across the road about 50 metres. Most have ocean views. Also has secure storage for hire boards.

We stayed in the Sheraton, best pool and waterslide for the kids. For Dad not too bad either as good reef breaks and a few less people out front and to the right of the hotel.

G'day teatree
If you get a chance go check out Sandy Beach it's a very entertaining and an exciting day out watching bodysurfers getting flogged in the shore break it's breath taking. The poor Lifeguards are on the tools all-day.

www.ilikaihotel.com/‎

Jump on VRBO and book it through there. They give you a access code via email so you don't have to check in with reception etc and can usually check in hours earlier than the usually 2pm check in time. Next door to Hilton and overlooks the Hilton Lagoon. Surf straight out in front.

Stayed here too awesome spot, paradise reef nice right hander straight out the front of horizon pool surf all morning leave the missus in the pool then drink all arvo watchin the reef peel and listen to all the fat yanks fight about who reserved what chair gold.
The south shore gets same sought of swells we get here in winter so it should be pumping.
Sheraton from diamond head.

They all look good but a couple of those are out of my budget , so we are staying at Pacific Beach Hotel.Dont need to stay in the lap of luxury as we are only there for really 2 and a bit days , so I wont be spending much time , only to sleep

Cheers
