Met up with Lou from Eastcoast SUP for the dawn patrol this morning to share some stoke on Port Hacking and avoid the Sunday beach crowd and the slop and bump so prevalent on the coast this past week.
Heading out from Bonny Vale, I ventured across The Hacking entrance toward Darook Park on Gunnamatta Bay Cronulla and head on into a hell sweep running out with the tide but made it across the Bay opening to the NSW Fisheries Office's with ease on the big Naish Nalu.
After hooking up with Lou, we took a leisurely stroll north in the protected channel under the Woolooware escarpment catching up with a chat toward Cronulla Marina before bumping into another local SUP'per and turning back on ourselves to take on the Bay sweep and hit the peelers at Bonny Vale which gently rolled along the shallow banks of Bundeena.
Great fun, thanks boys. Here's some pic's. We'll be out next Sunday morning for our monthly Eastcoast SUP paddle so if you're keen, let us know and get amongst it.
I don't think you realise how fast the current was taking you east back towards the ocean. You went from Bonny Vale to the Fisheries before I could even get to the first channel marker on the edge of Gunnamatta. I thought you had hooked up a motorised rig to the Naish, good thing you had the fluro helmet made it easier to track you in the dawn light !
As usual, great paddle, great pics !
Hey Guys, good to meet up and yeah the current sure was stronger than normal
Just showed the family the pics and they thought it was funny and didn't believe it was me...
I couldn't believe how quick you paddled away from me, I know I need to get a proper paddle but wow, that Naish, it just glides so well...
Will be there next weekend for sure, is the meeting place determined yet?
