I'm guessing the holes in the deck of the Red Rockets are for accessory handles?

Can anyone confirm this please

Yes I believe they're for BOP style race handles for dragging the board into the water in a beach start. Did the handles not come in the box?

They (the holes) are there just in case you want to fit your own BOP style handles.. You just need some webbing and s/s screws to make your own.. I'm pretty sure they don't come with the board and I'm guessing 99% of people won't bother.

DJ is right. They are for BOP race handles for dragging the board from the water. They don't come in the box and to my knowledge aren't available as an accessory. A piece of garden hose with a stainless washer under a stainless screw would do nicely.

I have just purchased a fanatic 12'6 x 30 with these holes.
Any idea what thread size they are?

Hi Flaker,

The holes aren't threaded, they are for self tapping screws. Try an 8 gauge screw about 3'4" long (allowing for thickness of hose (or whatever) and washer).

If you contact one of the surf life saving board manufacturers they can sell you the same handles they use in clubbie boards. I did this and it works well.
Cheers

Hi Guys,

The holes are for stainless steel 316 self taping screws or similar and the right size is 12 gauge, length depends on the handle thickness 5/8 worked for us.

We used a dolphin rescue board handle that Bulldogpup sourced and had to use some roofing bolt spacers to raise the handle slightly but the result looks like it was installed during manufacturing.

Jobs done in 5 mins and can be removed in 30secs

The handle looks great even though it wasn't my idea to use them for that.
I was thinking of using them for a simple bungie cord net or perhaps tie down loops if they were ever needed.
Thanks for the screw sizes
