What a day the race started from the South and the early morning breeze was a nice SW wind but by race time time it was East and during the race it swung to the North making it a 35km slug out across a ESE swell with virtually no runs , the Tweed bar as usual was a nasty passage but it made for some exciting racing as the lead and positions changing in just a matter of metres , support boats also struggled to navigate safely through the passage.

Jacko broke a rudder cable in the entrance on his new DC16 so Dale Chapman immediatley swapped boards with him , what great a effort , Dale finished the entire race on Jackos board with a broken rudder.

The Real stars for the day were the girls completing the race on a 14' and 12' boards , what a monster effort , here is a few shots of of the day.

Woogie Woogie Woogie Stroke Stroke Stroke

I've actually been waiting for a topic to put this rhyme I thought up into - and it looks like this topic fits the bill. Looks like a great day, even if woogie wasn't racing - good on you all.

Sorry, didn't realize Woogie was paddling. How the hell would I know anyway, I'm in Melbourne.

I knew if Woogie was competing he would win - just look at the competitors paddling style (the shot in the middle), he's all hunched over like he's about to do a Crazy John on us.

Congratulations all round - looks like a fun day for all.

Oliver thats me doing a save and no I don't paddle like that.

That picture doesn't do it justice but the side wind made it hell on the boards.

Well done to all competitors yesterday!!. You deserve a rest day today.

It was an awesome effort by all SUP paddlers considering the conditions were not ideal.

A huge congratulations to my crew of girls, Sue, Donna-Leigh and Jodie who made the distance in 5hrs 58mins into the headwind/showers and NE crosschop.

You girls stuck it out and showed real determination right through to end.

Particular members of this forum who didn't compete in this greulling challenge and were not even there, should show more respect to these guys/girls, not paying out on them.

yeah hey stuey i meant to come and introduce myself to you and sue but i didn't quite get round to it your board looked nice and fast and can't wait to get out in some decent swell and wind and see how all the boards compare in that stuff as well. I'm in the process of trying to set up a fun race where everyone is even, even if they are on a 9 foot board so maybe we can get you guys to come along again.

I loved the racing and i know me and Jake were just stoked to be out there and are amped to get out there again

I think you guys may have Woogie contemplating retirement Early in the race he said, "have a go at these young blokes stroke rate, they're gonna die!" Yet there you were as we passed Surfers, still goin like a couple of 'roid fuelled eveready bunnies! But hey despite the conditions that was epic and I cant wait to join in myself, just need an old blokes, beginner division........

Sorry, If I came across as being disrespectful to anyone - I didn't set out to do that. I actually love Tweed Heads and the race was obviously very challenging. I hope you all had a great day - well done.

Yeah DJ, when I posted my comments I didn't think I was being disrespectful either, I thought I was making a throwaway comment on a public forum? However, when re-reading my posts, I can see it is my fault 100% as I neglected to factor in just how sensitive some strokers are to the slightest hint of criticism.

I think it's more called supporting your mates and friends when others bag them. You see... Woogie has NEVER looked at this forum. He has NEVER read any of your trash comments about him. He has NEVER looked at this site. He has NEVER self promoted..that's his mates doing that because they believe in him and respect him. I'm not sure exactly why he is the target of so much critisism by alot of you.. some say jeolously ??

I convinced him to conduct some clinics and it took me ALOT to pursade him to do that. I'm not sure who else you're all accussing of "self promotion". What's the difference between stating facts about some one (eg World Champion etc) that you call "self promotion" to those who get on here every day and post "how great they ripped it up this morning in the surf". Isn't that self promotion and talking yourself up also ???

This forum now bores me as I can't stand people bagging others "just to get a rise" especially when they have no facts, don't know the person and have no clue of events or situation. You hide behind a profile and that sux. This will definately be my last post. There are some great people on this forum with alot to offer the rest of us. And I hope to continue to hear from you. Bye. If you want to write to me.. you know where to find me. It was fun...for a short while.

And exactly how and where have I bagged/trashed Woogie? I think he is one of the best paddlers/strokers I've seen and I've commented on this previously - more than once - on this very forum.

If you want to better control the messages you put out there why don't you consider paid advertising or go back to your ning forum thing instead of having a go at me.

Firstly..all you do lately is bag Woogie with your smart remarks and criticism. Reread your posts. It's uncalled for. The guys done nothing. Second..What have I got to advertise or sell ?? I'm not in the industry. Alot of people sent me private messages on this forum asking who they could go to for technique coaching for the paddling side of SUP. After much thought I thought Woogie would be good at it. I'm sure there are 20 other guys and girls in Australia who could do the same thing. I'm sorry I ever tried to help them out now. Maybe I should have written it up as a "demo day" that way it wouldn't be seen as an "advertisment sliding under the radar".

Oliver I first thought you were ok and even humourous but there is just too much negative focus on paddlers who don't deserve it. You admit that you like to criticize others. You once wrote me a personal message saying you tend to get carried away with the moment and I'm thinking now might be one of those moments. There are correct times for humour. I was pissed off last week when "Balddick" made his "I'm so bored" comment because there has been alot of posts about distance racing lately. Now we can't even post results and photo's to those that we actually at the races without the post being highjacked. If you're not interested in the post. Don't read it and certainly don't criticize in it.

P.S. Isn't posting on this SUP forum how you won an award for designing a web site "talking your self up and self promotion"???????? And no one bagged you for that. We congratulated you. I even looked at your site.
