The windsurfing crew refer to up there as cold hawaii I believe. I would guess there is waves to surf, but between the killer whales the freezing cold temps and the really expensive beer it would be a mission.

Killer Whales are friendly only ever been two recorded deaths in history one at San Diego Sea World and one in Canada or Alaska. As for the beer I'd take some Duty Free cane cutter cordial e.g. Bundy Rum, drink it straight by the cap full. Hiring a car and accommodation should be a standard price. So I guess I'll be eating just Whale meat 3 times a day, boil the ice for fresh water and hope to run into a six foot six Scandinavian Blond Bomb Shell that will take me back to her place and teared me apart like a Baked Chook.

DW, it doesn't hurt as much if they are wearing black leather - apparently.

$100 Australian Dollars = $13,131.68 Icland Kronur

So you will loose around half of your money

A Kronur is worth more than the English Pound

You can get a return flight from Brisbane to Reykjavik for under $2,000 in August with a stop over in Amsterdam. When in Amsterdam I may have to try some of those famous hash cookies and hope not to end up like the cookie monster. The Right hander looks like it's at Olafjorour

Awesome place to go on a surf trip if you want to step back in time and discover and explore. The excitement of a new surf discovery is a rare one these days.
Never mind if your doing it under the midnight summer sun.
Haven't surfed that one but a few others in the south are great. Hangin to get back there with a SUP to both surf and explore. Look up Arctic Surfers on Facebook or PM me if you want any other info.
Oh and yes it's cold 9deg water temp is the norm
Oh and going there used to be a nightmare money wise. Even when livin off the relo's, but the 2008 GFC has seen the Krona go from 45 to 135 to the AU$ so there's never been a better time to go check the place out. The place has so much to offer can't wait for next Jul-Aug
