Class and fun yes! power and handling no! Gixxer was a missile with manners.

Think the 12er is the best one board quiver.

The custom 10er is not for sale that is a keeper

Nice steed there Windy!! Whilst we're lusting over quiver killers!

This black beauty is the new YETI 29er. Smashes anything, up or down even with 5" front and back. Finally they have the geometry right on a 29er!

Here's to the nutter's who never stop developing our favourite toys!

At least we'll die smiling

Great thread Hilly,

Still ... i was kinda hoping to hear a variety of takes from people in different places talking about their The Perfect Two Board Surf Quiver. A great topic.

For me here in Qld, at 50 years old and mainly surfing the quietest beachbreaks i can find - it's a 2012 Naish Hoku 9'5 (with a plan shape eerily reminiscent of some of my first thrusters back when Simon first made em famous) and a McTavish 8'1 Carver (okay it's a surfboard not a SUP, but i am a very experienced surfer fairly new to SUPing.)
As we surf a LOT of junk around here, my second SUP would ideally be something longer and wider to cruise on tiny waves and a bit of flatwater... maybe the new Naish 10'6.5 Nalu or even something like the Coreban cruiser.

Then i just need a Ducati with sidecar for the board.

So was I but bikes are cool too

9 5 looks nice you are right about the 80's shape.

A lot of guys your way are using 12 6 bop boards in the dribble. The 10 6 looks nice I think DJ has one.

Yeah there was a 2nd hand DC 12'6 at a good price when i bought the Naish. If i'd had more cash I would have driven home with a good two-board quiver there and then. But if I get my act together and get into some more serious waves (rare around here - although there's some hefty swell on the points this week) i think those PSH boards look hard to beat. I guess your pics say it all... 2 boards might be enough - but more is better.

Agreed.

The perfect two board quiver is going to be different for everyone and not just because of weight or experience.
I believe East Coast conditions are usually a bit cleaner so you can get away with a slightly smaller length, width and volume board if you are looking for a performance type SUP, but also there is more long, cruisey, point break type waves so a bigger, wider board is also of more use over that side.

In the West I think we generally have shorter, steeper waves and a bit choppier conditions.
My first surf SUP was a 10'2" JL Mano and I still love it but am looking for something a bit shorter.
Because I loved the bigger JL I bought a 9'4" Mano when I saw a second hand one for sale and as much as I love it when on a wave, it is often just a bit to much hard work for me in all but nice clean conditions.

Mmmm what to get?

I am thinking somewhere around 9' by 30", I might even stick with the JL's and go for the new 9'2" Stun Gun.

Oh and my current bike is a WR250R Yamaha but yep a Duke is on the cards, and damn that Yeti looks nice.

First paddle on the 9 7 tonight.

Two thumbs up more rocker and much better construction with the vacuum bagging. Tested on the rocks in and out all good. Even managed a couple of turns at Metts storms have done there job banks everywhere. Thinned the crowd out.

For a qualified art teacher with a nice big new camera, your photos get a D-

Just for you.

9 7 rocks totally different beast to usual PSH shapes more rocker very buoyant.
Turns very nicely for its size. Single concave to double into heavy V between front fins with more rocker works a treat. Certainly less effort to turn and it loves steep sections. Cannot wait to get it in serious waves Thinned out tail looks the dogs bollocks for bigger waves.

Construction is up there with Jimmy Lewis Kwad and Mano very strong and light.

Even got DJ over for the shoot :)

Hey Windy you can def have a go when I am down that way (and I should get down there a bit in the next couple of months)but I won't be selling the 10'2 anytime soon, love it, the 9'4 is up for grabs though.

Nice looking stick Hilly , I personally reckon you won't need the Gerry Quads .I'd be using the Pancho's in the front and controllers on the rears , they worked really well on the other Hull Rippers. Start from there and work up if you need to. There is also some new Lairds which look pretty cool , size wise they are in between those 2 sets.

Re the 2 boards quiver, I dusted off my 5 year old Ron House 9-10 today to take on the big beach breaks (finned with the Pancho/contoller) and it was great had a ball. Definetly would put something close to 10 in the quiver and a 8-8 or 8-11 for the second board those 2 would fill the gaps for me in all conditions.

Thinking of trying thruster in bigger stuff on this. Might have to borrow Bellys JMs
