I should of asked this question when i first bought this board but since never owning a board before i didn't really think much of it. These two marks have been there since i bought it in January and i'm just wondering what they are. When i picked up the board i left it in the packaging because i had a 2hour trip back home and thought it would be better protected. When i got home all i wanted to do was get on the water, but after seeing other naish boards on this forum i notice that i'm the only one with these marks. Any ideas on these marks would be great as i have no idea about board constuction. I would also like to say that it hasn't effected the boards performance in anyway and am very happy with naish otherwise.

cheers

Champcrow,

This cloudy finish is nothing to be alarmed about. It will not effect the board performance or durability. It is a slight clouding in the final resign coat. I am not 100% sure why it happens to some boards, I think it is something to do with the humidity of the room when the board is layed up, once it goes in the mould and is heated all the moisture is gone, but it changes the appearance of the resign, it is something that is there from first Cure for the rest of the boards life. Unfortunately when you have a very sexy looking board like the Naish with the wood reveal deck, it does stand out a bit. The first board were not going to have the wood reveal, as the wood is there as a technical part of the board construction, not an asthetic one. Naish only decided to have the reveal because it does look really kewl to have a wood deck.

But as I said, this will not effect your board in any way, and under wax is un-noticable.

Regards,

JB

I've seen quite a few Naish boards and they are all different in regards to their finish. I think you just got one with a some minor discoloration. Both DJ's boards are quite yellow in their finish compared to mine - his 10'6" is particularly yellow. I've also seen others in the shop that look like they have dust all over them before the coating was put on. My boards finish looks is exceptionally good - kind of sorry I've now covered it over with deck pad. I also find it weird that Naish don't place the design to cover the place where the wood is cut. I notice that your design is about 5cm above the cut where my design is about 5cm below the cut. Would have been better just to put the design over the cut.

Oliver,

You will find that all boards now will have the seam behind the decals. When the factory goes into production, little things like this come up but it is too late to change as they build many boards at a time, and we don't see them until they arrive here. We buy alot of boards at a time, so although the production now is more accurate (in concerns to asthetic thing like this), we already have stock from previous productions. This is the same with things like the handle placement. First production runs the handle was a little bit too far forward, now it is perfectly balanced. The main thing is the boards are technically all the same, and surf great. Stoked to hear you guys love the boards, I am yet to ride a better performing board myself.

Regards,

JB

Hey JB,

My carry handle is a little far forward when I carry my board under my arm but is perfectly balanced when I carry it above my shoulders - which is how I prefer to carry the beast. Took me a little while to work this out.
