Had this little baby put together for the Nationals and through various circumstances havent really had a good crack at it until recently. Realised from the get go it was quick but because of some chronic knee problems was never able to apply the needed grunt.
The Red Rocket is pretty much an extension of the last three boards Fordy has made for me. Really just playing with dimensions. This one is eight, two by four and a quarter by twenty nine. Left a lot of beef right through the front half of this one so it does'nt feel a lot different in the paddling department from the snot block, lime green pictured below.
It does seem to have a little less rocker than the last two which gives it a real squirty feel and a sense of instant acceleration in some juice.
Anyway, more to come
Cheers

Ya gotta love a country that enshrines the punt to the point of sanctioning public holidays to celebrate regional horse races. Yesterday was Geelong Cup Day sometimes referred to as the Ugg Boot Cup. No work for me.
Up for the early at five thirty and surfed my favourite reef until eight, home for some brekky and then back for a check at low tide. Bugga me if this cheeky little bank had'nt popped up and there was no one in sight. Strait out there for another two hours and then back home to get arvo tea organised for the kids after school.
My young bloke has just had a cast removed from a broken arm, skateboard accident on his birthday skateboard, on his birthday!!! Anyway, he was frothing for a splash so I took him over to the back beach with every intention of just looking on. Blow me if the wind had'nt swung straight, the swell jacked and it was going off. Could barely drag myself over the hill but managed to put in another hour.
Decided I would capture this epic day for posterity. Camera was hating the early sesh, dawn light and early sun while it sits in the shade just doesnt agree. Couldnt get the angles right on the second sesh and just couldnt catch the right waves in the third.
It was a seriously warm day, steamer in the morning, boardies and vest at mid day and just bordies in the arvo and before you all start having a crack, the guy going for the second wave called me into it and the kid who drops in on the last wave is my young bloke. He was struggling so i called him into a set wave to share some quality father and son time.
Vid quality a smidge better if you take the HD option
Beautiful looking boards , love the pulled in nose and stepped rails .Great video nice aspect. The board looks great on the waves really easy to ride.
Thanks for posting.
Something I note about your boards and the way you ride the wave is that you turn from the flats towards the lip.
There have been contest vids on this site where people have thought others had been ripped off and IMHO they were losing points for mid face turns and a slide and the judges are trained to reward complete surfing.
Well done Sparx, nice board and always love vids of that left.
yes very nice Mr sparx, board, video, surfing. I can relate to the walk up the hill, I have had a few surfs at plonsdale (hidden jewell) and it sure takes it out of ya. I had a surf there a couple w/ends back 2ft at OG 20 people 3-4ft clean at Pt L and 3 people. I think it must be the hill climb that stops em.
Lovin your work sparks,
Great to see the knee has sorted itself out after the Ausies and the red rocket looks the goods for sure. Its been a magic week 4 days of off shore and great swell.
looked like a lot of punters were at the beach instead of thre track, sadly I was in Melb.
More Vid please.
Well done! Thanks for posting. I think that's the best surfing Video of SUP Surfing from this region I have seen.
Speaking of Vicco SUP Videos, where's RobDog gone?!
Thanks for the feedback boys.

Reckon thats the way I've always surfed. If footage existed of me as a hair farming, free surfing, keel fish riding seventeen year old, I reckon it would be pretty similar, just no paddle....and probably in black and white!!!
Mick
What is this hidden jewell you speak of ??? Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Phil
Sorry to hear you had to work, reckon there would have been some smokers over your way, particularly Tuesday for the lego. Not out of the woods with the knee yet. Visit the surgeon early November for the final prognosis. Apparently at the tender age of fifty I'm a border line candidate for a knee replacement Definitely better than it was, dont have to rattle like a pill jar to get through the day which has gotta be good.
Simondo
High praise indeed! But when you look at the sort of waves Robdog shoots down south and the charging from the likes of The Feeze and co, any hotdogging going on down this neck of the woods is small beans in the scheme of things.
Goatie
Reckon you might have to dose Dan with the happy gas before he builds a board with four fins. Could be he suffers from quadrophobia!!
