Agree Noel mate, but its not just this forum that's in trouble I think it's the sport in general. I personally think the sport itself is heading for an identity crisis. I might cop some flack here on saying this, but ive seen a big decline in guys that sup here on the south coast of NSW. But that's only the surfing part. The flat water sport seems to be going ahead but still the south coast guys dont want to take it up. A few crew have really soured the sport around here and the negative comments that are constantly put on this forum are the direct result of their attitudes out in the water.

Somewhere amongst this all and on this forum sup has lost it's fun.

Totally agree on that one Ben , it's a shame how this forum has drifted away from the stoke of this sport. The worst part is to see guys posting videos or pics getting washed off the page by troll trash.

I'm not going to give up on the site but it really does sh!t me to tears to see a thread run for 5 pages when it should have been shut down on the first comment.

If you have ridden a new board or had a great session lets read about it or see it , had a bad day at work or a few too many beers go outside and yell at a tree , I don't want to read about to here. Lets keep it positive and just share the stoke.

Hey Appsy,

Its amazing how the comments made on Seabreeze pop up in converations all over the surf coast and are raised by many of the people who used to post but now just sit on the side and watch instead. The continued negativity raised on this forum has put many people off both the forum and the surfing side of the sport.

Whilst from time to time there are issues out in the water, if you were a first time SUPer reading this forum lately you would think the next time you paddle out your going to get pole axed.

I can only speak from my personal experience in 4-5 years I have really only had one run in that was someone blowing off a lot of hot air. We regularly surf Bells, Torquay, PRK etc etc etc. If you want a fight you can find it anywhere, if you fit in you will get along fine.

If instead of the continued negative Bull **** and trolling, the forum went back to posting stoked vids of people having fun, trying out new boards, assiting others with fin configurations etc we might just turn it around. I seriously doubt that will happen as the main contributors have moved on.

The racing side of the sport here has a solid following and its due to people dedicated to the sport putting in serious hours of time and effort to ensure progression and for that they should be congratulated.

The surfing side doesnt have that momentum behind it here in Vicco, thats why Kristi and I continue to travel interstate. At this point there isnt even a monthly or bi monthly comp. You cannot expect a sport to grow if there is nothing to build on.

At this point Kristi is learning to shortboard to be able to get some sort of comp experience as this is the only way to make it happen.

I would be keen to hear other peoples thoughts

Phill

Totally agree..

I know and have met quite a few of the regulars to this forum. However, only 'watch from the sidelines' for good info, debate & just 'share the stoke.' I don't usually get involved in commenting as, these days, it appears there are always sharks circling just to chop you up. These 'sharks', no matter who, should just chill (or go for a SUP).

I'm only a punter who'se been in the SUP sport for 2 years, of my 43 years surfing. I have quite a few SUPs (mainly from AA) & use them all, along with my Mals & Shortboards.

Don't diminish the 'Stoke'. I'll keep watching from the sidelines & continue to share the water with everyone (& serve you another Corona at the Classic).

Good stuff Hilly, love seeing stoked grommets.

Piros, been missing some of your 'hot' shots

Here's one of my youngest competing last Friday at the SUPA comp in Newcastle. Check out the rashie, it came off after one wave and he had to try and put it back on in the lineup while getting smashed. He was so stoked with his performance - didn't care what his place was

Why is it accepted here then?
The same troll brings most discussion down to the ridiculous with the same posts that may have some humor at first but not when repeated for every thread he posts in.
I guess the mods are ok with it but if people are turning there back on the site as stated above who's the winner?
It's still the best place to come to for pics, vids and latest event info on Sup in Aus at the moment that I know of but that might not be the case the way it's going, hopefully things change for the better here but I know out on the water surfing, downwinding and flatwater paddling I'm enjoying Sup more than ever.

I agree. It's ok for people to have a bit of banter and argue their case for this or that but those who blatantly dislike and go out of there way to denigrate the sport really have no place here. Surely it would be much more constructive for those people to participate on the forum of the sports they enjoy? There are sports I don't have much time for but I wouldn't think or care to waste my time passing comment or judgement on them. Maybe the old saying "get a life" might be applicable here.
