There was another vessel looking after the front runners but unfortunately I didnt get a chance to get an image. The armada leaving Frankston flanked by all the paddlers looked like a D Day dawn invaision.

I'm sure I had The Flight of the Valkyries (the music from the chopper landing on Apocalype Now) running through my head!

Great article Teeps - captures the spirit of the day.

Being in Group 4, and one of the lucky ones on RV 42, I think I can speak on behalf of everyone else in our group in thanking Dave and his 'crew' for donating our 'Rolls Royce' escort boat and their time to make it happen. They had to bring the boat (you might even classify it as a ship) down from Williamstown to Frankston at 3:00am in what were considerably lumpier conditions than we had to paddle in. Dave was sporting an impressive gash on the top of his scone, courtesy of those conditions during the night! He remained impressively sanguine throughout, even with a load of SUP'ers taking over his boat for the day.

Of course, everyone else who contributed to the event deserves high praise, but I just wanted to put out a special thanks to Dave and his crew.

I cropped this one... Great shot... I like this crop slightly more than the version with full sky. Great pic though, either way.
