Hi Carol and welcome to Seabreeze.
Come up to the Central Coast (hr north from Sydney) plenty of waterways, protected bays and beaches to choose from...
The Entrance is great for flat water paddling, Toowoon Bay (voted cleanest beach 2012) is protected from swell the water is so clear and also has some small point breaks to explore...

Hey Adoy, thank you for welcoming me and for your nice tips.
I've been up there (Shelly Beach) visiting friends but haven't visit Toowoon Bay, now you've me curious :)
Will certainly be looking forward to try these waters very soon!

Cheers

Hey Carol,
Toowoon bay is the next beach north from Shelly beach see photo.
There is also flat water SUPA titles held at The Entrance in Feb, will be a lot of paddle boarders there, sponsers and chance to do some demos.
www.seabreeze.com.au/Members/Events/Event.aspx?id=6619839
Let me know if your up this way and need tour guide... I would like someone else to go paddling with too

Hey Adoy,

Yep, I know, and unfortunately I haven't been there when I went to Shelly Beach (have just spent a day up there - a rainy day btw!).
I see I'm missing out big time! It looks like heaven on this photo!
Thank you, I'll let you know for sure, I'm really looking forward to meet people into the sport, this event sounds like a good idea ;)
Cheers, Carol

Hiya carol, over at rosebay the OZSUP crew have social races every Wednesday evening and Saturday mornings and we also do paddle training sessions in Tuesday mornings and Friday mornings. There are all ability levels at any of the aforementioned events and its heaps of fun!!
Enjoy your paddling!! 😀

Hey Carol, I am not sure if someone had mentioned it before but wind surf and snow at Long Reef is a good point of reference for what happening on the northern beaches in the SUP side of things. Sam, Anne, Chris and the guys down there are awesome... A mate's wife Dianne Morrison has a good crew of girls that go paddling too....hope it helps..

Hi Carol, welcome to Seabreeze!

Sounds like you paddle around some of our favourite spots.

We are having a social Twilight paddle this Friday around the Manly area from 5.30pm if you want to catch up with our paddling crew.

Conditions look superb for a coastal crawl around the harbour side.

PM me if you want more info. I will be posting details shortly.

Hi Carol!

I'm a beginner too (currently hiring equipment from Manly wharf) but looking to get my confidence and experience up. Which side do you prefer, harbour or surf? I'm trying to get my courage together to go back to the surf side after all these shark sightings but a partner would be great reason to go! I think I'll join the twilight paddle tonight if you're around I'll see you there!

Hi Carol,
It appears I am also on the same boat! I started supping about 6 weeks ago and totally addicted to it. Been doing the mileage on the flat at Narra lake and around the harbour, Little Manly and Manly but been feeling a little lonely out there lately. I'm also keen to do some camping/supping trips on the weekends. Keen to get into the surf and quite possible get into racing as well in the future, but for now just cruising and getting the skills and fitness up. So if you'd like to catch up, let me know.

Cheers,
Cecile

Hi Cecile!

That's great! Thanks for your reply, I am definitely interested on catching up!

You're probably a little more advanced than me, but I've been training as much as I can, might get there soon!

Like you, for now cruising only (well, at least trying, hahaha...) and keen to go further as soon I as improve my skills. And also, absolutely in love with SUP!

I've been paddling in Little Manly and Narra lake, would love to go around the harbour - but for this one I think I'd better go with a partner! Camping/SUP trips, I'm in it too!

Will PM you my number.

Carol

Hey Tracy,

For some reason I've been trying to email you my number here since last week, and the emails somehow return to my inbox as I've had sent them to myself...

Do you have a personal email I could send it to?

Hi sim22, thanks for replying, glad we find each other!

At the moment, I prefer harbour for obvious reasons (hahaha), but would love to go to the surf side too, as soon as I get enough confidence and proper skills!

I confess I've been really scared about the shark attacks too, I try to not think too much about it, but always ended up looking around in case I spot one of the "cuties" when I'm paddling lol

Could you please reply me with some details about this twilight paddle (where, when, time...)? I haven't heard about this one yet...

Will PM you my number.

Cheers,

Carol

Sorry you missed it guys! It really was a magic paddle last night!
It was all a bit last minute but there was 7 of us eventually. It was pretty windy getting around the point but once in the bays it was nice and protected and some of us paddled till the sunset.

That whole area over that side is a favourite, catching the suns rays till the very last minute!

Sounds like a few of you guys will be flying interstate to get here for the next one so we will give you a bit more notice!

With this weather we are having maybe if we can get better organised we will try again next week!

As for the bitey's we just ignore them!
Seriously we have been teaching school kids to sail and paddle in Middle Harbour now for over 20 years and we haven't lost one yet!!
So standing on top of the water with a big sharp stick in hand should give you even more confidence!

Seriously you are in more danger driving to the beach than paddling off it!

Our next event is a DEMO at Narrabeen Lake on Sunday January 13th from 7.30am. We get learners starting out and lots of paddlers coming down and trying new boards. Great way to meet the crew on the Northern beaches!

Hello! I am new to Seabreeze too and wouldn't mind meeting up with other folks who like to SUP.
I have been doing SUP for a bit over a year and go paddling on the lower North shore (Neutral Bay, Sirius Cove, Mosman Bay) for flat water paddling with my hubby. We like to go to Palm beach also and are trying catching mini waves (though I'm only able to catch tiddlers at the moment, probably have bigger waves in the bath)
It would be great to meet other SUP-ers... send me a PM if you fancy meeting up for a paddle.

PS I also have the biggest, rubbishest board in NSW, possibly the world. She's called Big Bertha and is about the size of a caravan but I can't bring myself to upgrade her yet because we have had so much fun together... just a warning in case you don't want to be seen with someone who is super un-cool!

Ok Narrabeen Lake on Sunday it is! My first time on the lake, where should I go? Does it get windy there at all? Got totally stranded on the weekend on Manly harbour.... the Manly Kayak boat may or may not have come to my rescue.....
