MATT LUMLEY BACK IN THE WATER
Vic SUP legend Matt Lumley hit the water for the first time today since the Noosa Festival (8 1/2 Weeks). After suffering from a tear in his lung which then progressed to pneumonia, to finally battling with an infection where tubes were placed into his body to drain fluid from his lungs... A slightly frail but very happy Matt paddled out at Point Danger today and proceeded to carve the small but clean waves.
Welcome back Matt!
Waa-Hoo!!!... It's great to see you back on the water Matt..
Take it easy and take it slow to start with.. I'm sure you'll bounce back but it may take a while.. Don't rush it.

Hey Matt,
Awesome to hear your back on the water.
I agree with Session helicopters at cosey corner only lol

Glad to hear you are back to good health Matt.
Next time you getting you photo taken, pull you wetsuit on please.
cheers guys, it was so good getting back out. It has been a windy long road. Still about six months to fully recover. But im back...
I don't want to pry too much (although both pictures don't leave too much to the imagination), but how did you tear your lung?
Surf injury? Breathe too deeply? ;-) Get hit in the guts with a SUP? Get nailed by a grumpy mal rider? I'm only after details relevant to surfing and SUPing.
Great effort Lummers, stoked to see you back in the water mate!
Now look after those lungs ok!
Keep shreading,
JB
Good to hear Matt! While it may not seem so at the time there will be most likely be good things to come from this in the long run and you will come back even stronger than before!
