The Mandurah Duel is on the weekend of the 11-12th of January. The 10km DW race is on Saturday this year - with a new start line under the bridge at the Cut and a new finish at the entrance to Halls Head (Mandurah Ocean Club) - no more paddling into a head wind finish!

Hi Greg can we do the Tec race into a 25 knt head wind so guys can get used to what they may come up against at the national
Will SUPWA have the fleet of 12/6 BOP boards heard a rumour that there may be a one design concept going on ?
The conditions are settling nicely for the Duel this weekend. The 15knots forecast for Saturday will suit an entry level downwinder - don't forget that you have the option to do the estuary course if you aren't keen on the open water. Sunday morning is looking perfect for a Tech Race (BOP), light easterly.
DW Entries close tomorrow - so don't forget to enter. Tech Race entries will remain open til Saturday.
Ian from Starboard Australia will be down with the Starboard tent for the Tech Race - providing prizes for this event.
Struggling to find a "Mandurah ocean club" on the map guys, can some one please clarify exactly where we meet for the tech race on Sunday morning.
Many thanks chaps.
I can't put up a photo but if you go over the old traffic bridge heading south and hang a right it's about 3km along. Also called Doddis beach.
Just registered, nothing like leaving it till the last minute.
Should be a fun race.
I'm taking down my trailer and cruiser so 15 boards and 8 paddlers if any one want a lift to the start, with a bit of luck we can find someone to drive it back.
DaiSup the map at mandurahduel.blogspot.com/p/course.html shows where it is follow Jenkz directions and check out the map it is pretty easy.
Yep it was fairly brutal, actually didn't start off to bad there was a sea breeze albeit a bit light, and a few good runs but the wind seemed to back right off and we got fairly well cooked in the second half.
The paddle back up/across wind with side on chop was a pretty tough way to finish such a hot race.
The temperature in Mandurah was still over 40 at 5pm when the race had finished.

The big winner though was yours truly with a Hamilton Island holiday for 2, random prize.
I don't know about that Snowie, I think I will see if I can go twice, I don't think there is a woman in Australia that would put up with my lifestyle.
This week as well as the two early morning SUP training sessions Tuesday and Thursday, it was the Sunset Surfski Series SUP race on Thursday, the Lancelin Ocean Classic Kite wave comp on Friday, The Duel SUP race today, tomorrow it is back up to Lancelin for the Lancelin Ocean Classic Kite Marathon.
Oh and a fun SUP DWer with you on Tuesday and a kite session on Wednesday.
It's getting bloody hard to find time for a surf as it is.
11 competitors at yesterdays SUPWA/ Starboard Tech Race at Doddis Beach Mandurah Paddle Club. Great competition between the guys, lots of shade under the Starboard Tent for the spectators.
Very tight course thanks to Jacko, creating a lot of touchy touchy and falling in at the bouys.
Luke Jenkins was a LATE entry and a DNF due to a pulled heart muscle knee issue something or other......

I wish I could have been there to help keep the great O50 division rivalry going, always so close, I'm sure Gordon would have made you work for it.

Hey Ulesys,
"Build it and they will come" ( or something like that)
Maybe a weekend event - downwinder on the Saturday and a tech race event on the Sunday. You guys have some great water down there, just ripe for it.
I'm in for sure !!
Some on board action....apologies for image quality, the salt water dries on the lens real quick when its 35degrees.
It's closer than you think ChickenStix, looking at our first SUPWA event for the first weekend in March, love to see as many Perthies down as possible. Did the amount of time spent in the water for the tech have more to do with air temperature than race temperature!!
