Just a heads up but km/h and knots are different.
10 knots is about 18km/h
20 knots = 36km/h
25 knots = 46km/h
etc etc.
Either way though I have my fingers crossed as well. I have Sunday free so could get
down there. You want minimum 25 to 30 knots for a good downwinder.

So that's the 25 - 30 knots that Brendan demands as a minimum.
Saturday is looking good for a d/w and with a bit of luck Wed dawn surf in Western Port could also be on the cards.
It's on for tomorrow..(Saturday).. 20-30 knots from the North is forcast and we're going early.. We're meeting at 7.30 am at Sandy (SHQ kiosk).. see ya there.. 
btw.. Paul and I both on Naish 14s had a great down-winder today in the sunny 20-30 knot northerly..

What a magnificent downwind paddle that was. We ended up doing 2 runs from West StKilda to Sandringham so about 22km altogether. Pics to follow tonight.
It was a top downwinder today, it wasn't extreme, probably only blowing around 25knotts, it was 34C, the water temp was refreshing and the runner action was happening. Today was the reason I bought the the 14' Glide and it performed SUPerbly.
For those of us watching from the other side of the world, can you put seabreeze names with the photos

This is Paul on his new Starboard Pin.. It's a beautiful board.
Bee joined us and it was her first ever down wind run.. She was on the big 11'6" Naish.
Oliver on his Naish 14 and thinking about what lays ahead.

We're off and the wind starts to kick.
Bee did great and didn't even fall once.. She can't wait for the next one now.

We headed up for 'take two'.. and after 1 1/2 hours to do the first run we did a second DW run.
We were milking the great weather and wind while we can because there's only one week of Summer left.

Way out off Green Point we spotted this Kite board floating on it's way to Tassie.. Oliver and I paddled over the save it and there was not a kite boarder anywhere in sight.. I rang the guys phone number that was on his board and he picked it up from the beach at Green Point.. I'm sure he appreciated it.

The van arrived at West StKilda around 8.30am loaded with boards, paddles, and what appeared to be illegal Mexican immigrants packed like sardines in the back.

I tried to give an impression of the conditions in this photo - lots of cross chop with the wind coming from NNE while the current was more true north. The swell wasn't huge but certainly got bigger than this the further away we got from StKilda.
Dave had disappeared over the horizon, but then turned around and paddled into the 35 knots to rejoin us at the back of the pack. Here he is cruising with Bee.
Bee showing some good form for her first downwinder. Unbelievably, she never once came off the board. I think I took an unscheduled swim about 10 times.
Dave picks up a nice little runner. He thought I was in video mode so he really played up the style. Sadly I didn't capture that.

This is round 2 - we hadn't had enough after one 11km run to Sandringham, so we turned around and went again. The wind was forecast to drop by midday but we could quite possibly have gone a third time (well those with any energy left).
