SUP CLUB June Race Series – Season Wrap...
Fantastic conditions for the first SUP CLUB Race of the June Season. A 5-10 knot SW was easily managed by competitors who got out there and braved the cold water. After a flying start in the Race Class Paul Harrington (PT Woody) came undone on the upwind leg in a boat wash. Soon after Chris who shot to the front came off on some chop around the first turn and clearly didn't want to be in the water for long as he shot back to his feet and was on the way. Tim took most of the first lap to find the best balance point on his new race board, once he found it he was flying along!
Leo showed stellar form in the Social class powering his hybrid board across the line for his first win of the year. Close behind was Matt and Ben on his prone board, clearly with freezing hands by the end!
Race #2 saw a 10-15 knot Northerly wind pushing through, forcing paddlers to expend plenty of energy in the upwind leg. This race was held directly in front of the Seabaths and plenty of interest from passersby was shown as racers hugged the shoreline for the upwind leg.
Race #2 saw Chris take off fast for an early lead ahead of PT and Con which he held for the remainder of the race. Tim was hot on Con's tail before twitching a muscle in his back which saw him do the smart thing and finish up after the Social Class length. Leo yet again blazed his way to the front of the Social Class before attacking the full Race Distance on his hybrid style board. Great job mate! Hot on Leo's tail was Matt, paddling a surf style board... clearly not enough of a challenge on something that goes in a straight line!
The standout of the race was definitely Ben's new home designed and made prone board. He raced off in a straight line... if only turning was that easy 
Great to see there are still keen paddlers making it out there as the temperature drops and the snow season starts. Couldn't think of a better way to start the weekend!
