Hey it looks cruel doesn't it.. The dept of wildlife tag them.. But jeez.. they've already got big leg bracelets with numbers on them.. You'd think that's enough.

Hey Andrew.. How could you sell such a 'beautiful thing'.. .. I heard that you're loving yours.. Are PSH bringing one out?..

Maybe you bit off more than you can chew with this board.. ..They're huge alright and they are pretty expensive..

They are a handful to load on the car.. unload.. store etc.. and made for flat water and down-winders only.. But they are very nice if down-winders are what you're into..

I think of these pictures as a gift to those who're thinking of getting one.. or that are just into these boards.. or even just curious.

I'd love to see pictures (and vids) like these of DC's boards.. Starboards.. Pene's and SIC's etc.

I don't feel sneaky and never even look at or care about the red thumb thing.. I also don't do it because Naish/Kialoa/SHQ want me to.

When ever you're are in Melb I can borrow a 14 demo for you to use if you'd like to do a down-winder with us..

Nice DJ,

Very nice. As a fellow Naish owner, the 14, I can see myself adding this one to the collection. You can stare at it for hours. I can only imagine how good its glide must be, and how good it would feel. But then why stop at 17, what about a 20!

Very nice DJ ! Can you a similar feature on the 14 ?? I think that was a 14 in the background of the film wasn't it?

Don't worry DJ I wasnt having a dig at you. I sincerely love your posts and without guys like you and Rambo at the OC Forum I check they pretty much would not exist.

I was more celebrating your 4500th post, that's a lot of finger tapping.

My old man lives down that way so you never know when I could be down, I would definitely take you up on the offer to come for a paddle.

Thanks mate.

All good CMC.. thanks..

I tried to delete my reply to you after thinking about it but was too slow and beyond the delete time.. I don't think I need to explain myself after all this time.

I look forward to taking you on a down wind run with us..

I think 17 is as big as you'd want to go unless you're on glassy flat water.

I found it hard to fit the 17 into the short bumps on the bay at times.. and going longer would not necessary mean faster.. IMO

Like you I can just stare at it and think.. Jeez what a beautiful thing.. .. (both 14 and 17)

hi DJ

they are sweet boards, there is no doubt, but I was wondering if you have a problem with the steering wires rusting, a couple of mates have them here in WA and they both have rusted steering wire, with orange staining etc. around the tubes (yep they do wash their boards everytime)??

was just curious as this may be a warranty thing that naish could address.

I knew about the rusting s/s wires and knew there were replacement wires coming so I ran spectra lines from day one.

I've noticed that there is a small amount of play or slop plate that sit on top of the rudder shaft and the tiniest amount of movement there means a fair amount of free play with the rudder and this will result in excessive yawing with each paddle stroke.

I asked my friend Jonathan to make me a new s/s plate that I can tie my spectra lines off and also make the square in the plate a perfect tight fit with no play at all.

I finished it off today and tested it and it works great... Here's some pictures.. btw.. There's no real need to do any of this with the new s/s cables but I guess I just like to tinker and I like the idea of using spectra lines.

i had that slight slop with the plate, so i just tapered the square faces down a bit further on the shaft with a grinder so it could wedge up tighter. used a spacer washer to let it come up and the washer that came with it over that and the tighten it all up - perfect

I solved the play by moving one of the plastic washers up on top of the fitting and then putting two stainless steel washers underneath to make up the lost space. Now it tightens nicely into plastic washer and no more play.

Yes it is a beautiful thing DJ, but if you saw my garage you would see my dilemma!!
I have hardly used it but when I did I really loved the glide of it.

The rudder takes it to a whole new level, allowing you to glide onto waves and line up without losing speed. I also loved being able to use the rudder to stay paddling on one side for longer.
