After many months of planning and negotiations, we are stoked to now announce the formation of a new SUP club in Sydney at Botany Bay (Dolls Point) which will be based out of the George's River sailing club (GRSC)
The Club is called Botany Bay Stand Up Paddle Club or (BBSC)

Kicking off mid to late Oct, we will have weekly events from 6pm Tuesday nights during day light savings for 1-1.5 hours

Staple events will be a 2.5km time trial, with a mixture of other race formats including sprints, sup cross, technical courses and the possibility of a 5-6 km downwind if conditions are right.

Every week we will also hold a social paddle with qualified instructors for those just learning to SUP or not wanting to race. The Beach is also great fun for the kids so we encourage you to bring the tribe.
A Downwind course has been devised to take into account the summer N/E winds, starting from Kyeemagh back to our Dolls Point Club House, the course has plenty of bumps and runners and it is also a great place for people to learn downwinding as you can just turn into the beach if required.

The GRSC has all club facilities from bar to bistro available to all BBSC members & family to use and enjoy including $10 meals Mon-Wed. In adverse conditions, those not wanting to compete can watch through the full height windows from the warmth of the club.

Also in the pipeline are Sunday events every 2 months with the inclusion of demo days throughout the year to support club sponsors and the SUP industry.

Costs will be:

Individual: $60 P/A (including membership to GRSC)
Family: $120 (including 2 x membership to GRSC)
Child (Under 16): $30

For more information you can contact us on bbsupclub@gmail.com

Hope to see you on the water,

Vice President
Mick Slattery

Congratulations Mick. What a great location.
It looks like SUP is extremely strong in Sydney with this new club and the formation of a downwind / race section for the Sydney Paddle Surfing Club.
Here's to a windy summer with lots of bumps and friendly competition.

STOKED!!

after kiting and windsurfing in the bay over the past few years, finally the time has come to make the most out of those NE seabreeze runners.

One small question.
Will the club be aligning itself with SUPA or SURFING NSW/AUS??

sign me up, keen as.

Thanks guys, it looks like we have got a great response across social media and people emailing and ringing me.
We should get some great numbers across summer.

We are currently looking into all insurance avenues at the moment to work out what is best for our members.
Will keep you all posted on a firm start date. Cheers.

Well we finally have a date for launch

I'm excited to officially launch Botany Bay SUP Club's Tuesday night time trials this Tuesday the 29th of October 2013 at 6pm - Open Night, Registration and Information Evening. The club is running out of Georges River Sailing Club on Sanoni Ave, Sandringham NSW 2219 (Dolls Point)

The night will consist of a meet and greet, an opportunity to complete registration and a first look and practice run of the time trial course.

The course is 2.5km and can be changed around depending on wind conditions. If enough members wish to complete a 5km course we can always do both.

Costs will be:

Individual: $60 P/A (including membership to GRSC)

Family: $120 (including 2 x membership to GRSC)

Child (Under 16): $30

The membership will run on the financial year July-June, with our main season running during daylight savings on Tuesday nights Oct-Apr with weekend paddles throughout the year.
