The course for the marathon will be called closer to the day depending on the wind conditions, there's 4 options, check out the website for details.

For entering, I'm pretty sure you can for the racing, surfing maybe... But best to sign up early cause even tho it might be crap conditions it will still be a top event.

Yea ill be in team NSW! Will be good to see who wins that. Probs you guys, you always win the footy!

Here's another question, what division is everyone going in? Racing?

That distance on a 12'6 your looking around the 2hr 20 mins mark give or take.

Yea rod, it cost me 266 or something like that.

But it's well worth it, the event is going to be the future of NSW state titles.

Shouldn't starboard pay yours?

OK - I am a bit slow to the party here so forgive me if this has already been explained
Just went on to do my entry and can't understand why they have 12'6s doing the marathon!??! Why would you want to do 20kms on a 12'6? Out of 40 odd starters in last December's 20 Beaches I think there were only 2 12'6s?!?!
Anyway - as i am doing the over 40s and open, I have no option but to do the 14s.
Beau, Travis and QLD crew - are you on 14s or a 12s

I'm noticing more 12'6 are going in it. I'm on jetski for the race so no need to worry.

I'm doing other races on c4 TGIF cause my new ECS full carbon won't be here in time:(

No intention of doing marathon on a 12'6, think there was only 3 guys who did the race last year on 12'6's. I assume it is mostly based around the Peru qualification thing.
I know there has been alot of chat about it, although a marathon on a 12'6 just is taking all the fun out of it especially if it is conditions like last year...

Most of them will be on 12'6 Dave, as I've stated before, they are not as good looking, intelligent and all-round nice guys like us.
Also they are all open class.

Yes Pete, there was only the 3 of us on 12'6" last year. Glad I am on a 14 this year. Let's hope we win the lottery and get last year's conditions.

Thanks Jacko. You guys obviously know more than us. From the promotional flyer at the beginning of this forum how would anyone know about 12'6s for a 20k marathon? I think it is about time Surfing NSW actually started explaining what is going on. Given all the guys I train with are planning to paddle 14s I think there needs to be some disclosure on where the prizemoney is going (especially if you expecting us to cough up huge dollars in entry fees). Come on Luke. What's the deal?

Make that 4 dudes last yr on 12'6 as i was on one just behind you in that race (couldn't get a 14) n those guys and girls killed us on the 14's.....paddling into the headwind at the start suited the bigger boards

bring on a nuking wind !!!! so all you 20km nuts can actually get to enjoy paddling that far.... see ya at the finish line with a beer you animals

this is funny. when us normal folk ask the same question we get barked down. when a top paddler asks its a different story.

paddling 12'6 er er in a marathon race is just stupid, stupid, stupid . its like riding a bmx bike in the tour de france.

cheers and good luck everyone
