it's one thing to go surfing in stuff like that- you can your time etc. i know from our ins and outs training all that stuff goes out the window- you just got to go.
its hard to race and keep your surfing skills in there too.
and did i mention once in and out always seems enough.
hats off to all to race in those waves
cheers
those race shots are epic. I am super surprised there were no snapped race boards in those conditions. How many were in the race ?
wow!!!! what a great weekend topped off with a massive VB hangover
yewwwwwwww
big thanks to all the crew that turned up to have a crack and those who sat back and watched
thanks to the crew that took the piccies .....i bet there are some great wipeout shots out there
for me the biggest highlight of the weekend other than winning 3 cartoons of beer (yewww) was watching the womens finals and witnessing terrene black pulling into some really solid pits and absolutely "charging" the sets of the day leaving the crew i was standing near looking at each other going WTF......
the bar has been raised ladies!!!!!!!!
the waves on saturday were epic!!!!!!!and it was great not having to pump the crap out of some tiny dribbly ripple all the way to the beach just to try and get a score....
although when i was getting slammed in the impact zone in the dying stages of the final and watched beau nixon catch that last wave that he ripped to shreds n scored 9.8 "that sort of sucked a bit" and took a little bit of the shine off things.... (que the violin solo and a box of tissues)
bring on next year bigger badder and uglier than ever!!!!!!
Great weekend guys, so stoked everyone had a blast. I loved my first NSW Titles experience (except for the ****ty chest cold). Great bunch of lads and ladies to share our waves with and I even have some pics to prove I was there. Congrats to the worthy winners. I was also in awe of the Goatman who didn't hesitate in paddling straight out through the heavy 6ft lineup from the beach without so much as hows ya father. A true sportsman. Looking forward to next year hopefully with a swell to match this years effort.
Cheers, Spiro
Great photo Spiro!
The two days turned on the best event I have ever seen. Inspirational surfing and a great vibe on the beach cheering the big moves and massive beatings
Here's proof I was there with some signature moves - Photo credit Graffitisup (I owe you one Phil [}:)][}:)])
Is Beau from around the Taree area? If so I saw him surfing Saltwater Point about a month ago and it is no surprise that he took out the title, absolutely shredding.
Slight correction on the womens race results:
1 - Terrene Black (C4)
2 - Elyse Comerford (C4)
DNF - Hannah Finlay-Jones (C4)
All credit to those that entered! I reckon young Hannah was super brave to enter and super smart to withdraw after the first leg! She showed maturity beyond her years!
Congrats to the girls that finished - it was awesome to watch.
Go Terrene the Machine!
Great pics, great waves, but um, there was a girls division wasn't there????
Not one pic or video????
if you went over the page there was this girls vid here champ.....
