I'm thinking of buying a Naish 12' touring for just cruising, fittness and maybe some small waves.does anybody know anything about these boards???I have a 10' mana which I luv but just want something to cruise the river on.So if you have any comments or advice please let me know,as we all know boards are a lot of money and any advice could save money and disappointment.
Cheers Ron

You mean the 2012 12 footer with the kayak-y nose? I've had a couple of runs on one of the demos that floats around...I like it, it's very nice in flat water and smallish waves/runners/ripples. Super stable, has a huge sweet spot for trim, glides nicely, tracks good and the nose treatment works very well - it punches through small chop better than anything I've been on but doesn't get shoved around much*. Definitely worth a look for the uses you describe. Personally I'd go for a narrower, slick 14 footer or 12'6 with a bit of displacement nose up front (and a weed fin) for flat river cruising but the 12' Naish is very good and it'll be a big step up for cruising compared to your Mana.

(* you didn't indicate whether you're big, small or in the middle, if you're a lightweight you might find it a bit corky in chop)

I've paddled one and its a great board but if you have a 10' Mana IMO a better choice would be the 12'6" Glide for about the same price.

This board is great value (on the link)... based in Brisbane... Brilliant for cruising... BUT... the best bit is it is quite a quick race board for a fun race, plus it is also a brilliant down wind surfing/planing board, and also fun on very small point breaks...

Under $700, just needs a bit of marine bog/putty in that nose, and wet'n-dry!

i had at the same time, both the 10' mana like yours and the 12'6 fly race like in the advert and both are great boards at what they do. but my lack of ability to transport 2 boards saw me buy the 12' glide 4 mths ago as my one true sup.

it surfs well but not as tightly as the mana and it flat/chop paddles well but not as knifey as the fly.

but it brings a smile to my dial every time i use it and i can't see a replacement for a long time

Thanks for all the advice,my main concern with dedicated raceboards are that they might be a bit tippy.Im just on 6' and 100 kgs after Xmas maybe a bit more.Being no great paddler,I just enjoy the sport and gets me back in the water and puts no pressure on my back.I like the idea that the 12' is really stable and easy to paddle no real hassle.Pete, like the photos and the way the board floats, any problems with turning it??or just move like a longboard.
Simondo, thanks for the offer best of luck with a sale
Just sitting here watching Flatrock and sharpes beach, just big sloppy NE swell, of to the river again

Ron, the Fanatic Fly 12'6 x 30 is a very very stable board. An absolute pleasure on flat water.

But as Paddlepop pointed out, the 12 foot Naish also ticks the boxes... more expensive though.

After paddling the Naish 12ft V-nose , hybrid displacement hull sup I have to say that I am impressed. Nice and easy to paddle and quite stable for the novice (not me ). It turns very well and isn't too heavy for a girl to carry. I rode this board in 1-2ft waves and had a great time. It was easy to pick up the wave, take the drop, do some turns , and ride the board to shore! This is a very manouverable board for it's size, probably due to the flyer style tail. I haven't ridden it in a race, but i imagine it would be a good performer in a BOP race. If I had more cashola this would be my next board.

x2 what miss beanie said (that's her in the 2nd photo)

step back on the tail for sharp turns or stay in the middle for longboard trimming

at a list price of $1599 it's well priced for a naish

100 kegs like me is perfect for this board

you'll love it
