With the 2011 Australian Titles just around the corner (21-24 Aug) it will be interesting to see who will become the next Australian SUP Champion.

Strangely, there has been a flurry of "JC" title holders so far (2009 - Josh Constable, 2010 - Jackson Close) - maybe that pattern will continue?

If you have the initials "JC" - the pressure is on!

It's Revelations baby!

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will SUP with him, and he with me."

Jesus was an even better downwinder apparently...

"But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!"

"For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof."

That has to be the 'most best' post ever on seabreeze.
( Must be something to do with that name of yours. )

Now if I was my mum I'd come back with a verse as equally profound - unfortunately I have fallen by the wayside

As long as it's one of those whiney longboarders who wins the title I'll be happy.

If this forecast sticks, the opening SUP rounds on Sunday will be in triple overhead bombs at Town Beach, breaking about a kilometre out to sea off the river entrance.

Jacko missed the qualifying event at the Sunny Coast Tully was there and missed out if there is a wild card if would have to go someone that competed at the Qld titles.

So the way I see it unfolding is some of the best people will not feature in the Australian Titles for whatever reason or reasons.

I've read enough on this forum to make the above observation.

Been scoping the Coastal Watch cam for the last month or so. Looks like a very tasty left out there when the swell jacks. While its easy to say when you are not on the spot, the paddle out looked pretty reasonable from the breakwall end. Dont know about that wind though, could be a touch too East of South?
Cheers

Bit like the 'world tour'. You could say the same thing every year Mac. I reckon Billy Watson would be a favourite as well as Kieren, but that's the way the comp thing works, it's whoever makes the time to commit to doing it I guess.

Hey Sparx, it looks like being a southerly which should be pretty offshore I would have thought. Will be interesting.

Trust me Qld is really well represented Keahi , Jackson , Jason & Justin are all elite Sup surfers and more than one of these names will be in the top 3 and one will definetly be taking out the top spot at the Aussie titles QLD , NSW & VIC should definetly be allowed more than 4 as there are guys who missed out or could'nt make it could also be podium surfers. jacko , woogie , billy , tully , jamie mitchell , peasey & kieren just a few of the Qlder's that are'nt in it.

Brings up the wildcard debate again I know but that's how it is.

it seems like beginners are running this show. sup needs the best of the best to be competing to make the contest a contest. maybe if my dad cries to the right people often enough i might get in[}:)] only if its fat and small

Why don't you all just go surfing for what it is.
It's you in the ocean and what it has to offer on any given day. You might even get to share it with a few like minded poeple. Australian Champoin, it's just a title, wow your the best, doesn't mean much to those who surf becuase we love it.
I hope you enjoy your title whoever wins,

you are totally right waterhouse

the funny thing is

thats exactly what we do for the 23hrs and 40 mins of the day outside of that ****ty stressful 20min heat we surf against each other

we get to all hangout with other like minded stand up goatboat loving freakazoids and lay sh1t on each other as well as go surfing together but most importantly we drain each others eskies full of boooooze

in the end we all win!!!!!!

Bring ya red thumbs with you. I'll have a beer and a wave with them too.
