And for those saying it's back door, maybe you need to polish your glasses. Maybe at a stretch.

Well anyone that knows the wave will understand where he is arriving in the last shot is basically about to backdoor one tombing section which depending on the tide can be a fine line between pleasure and pain on a slab of reef.

So if its where I believe it is you may just need to polish your knowledge

What would pictures of me surfing prove? I'm not the world champion.

Let me put it in context for you - if I saw pictures of Slater, or Parko, or Fanning, or Reynolds, or TB, or Jordy, or etc, etc, in a barrel like that I'd go yeah, cool wave but nothing special at that level. But here you have someone at the most elite level of SUPing, a Waterman World Tour champion, and I expected more.

Have a look at this 17 year old kid. He's got a bag of aerial tricks and certainly a cool head in the barrel but he's no power surfer and still a grom. Nowhere near the top of the sport but look how deep he gets.

The pictures were awesome for amateur photos of an amateur surfer. If it was tha dogman, or Piros, or loco4olas,or OG SUP, or etc I'd be stoked for them. If it was me I'd be stoked too. Great wave and good barrel. But in the context of a world champion I was querying if that was the top of the sport. Sheesh, you're all so sensitive.

Hey Legion,

When I get a barrel like that you'll know, you will hear me freaking out where ever you are in Aus.

I take your point that it may not be the best barrel of all time, but i didnt think it was billed that way.

SUP as a sport is so young and so are the board designs as well. The guys I surf with 12 months ago were on 9'6 now 8'10 is a big board. at noosa Zane and Shaun were riding 6'6s.

Every month I see something new done on SUP that I probably didnt think was possible 6 months ago.

The guys I surf with are stoked, happy, wrapped that who ever it is got a great wave.

We often dont disect it tear it to shreads and compare it the Kelly shreading super deep.

Its like comparing thrash metal with jazz?

The SUPers just see it from a different perspective, theres no right or wrong just fun!

one of the best things every is to get barrel on a sup

That's one of my eternal (SUP) questions. If barrels are so good, and barrels are so hard to get on a SUP, why SUP at all (especially in good waves)? Why not use a shortboard or if you don't have the ability, (god forbid) a booger?

Nothing wrong with that opinion (IMO), more like a curiousity. I'm sure half my surf mates think the same thing.
The answer is like others have said, it's harder to get pitted on a SUP which makes it all the more rewarding
when you come out of a barrel. Unfortuneatly not talking from experience but it's on the "to do list".

Legion, you and your little wolf pack can use all the excuses to justify your posts, but they are so transparent that its pretty funny.....that your a joke. If you dont like sup thats fine, but why walk into a sup room and start talking ****......oh thats right its the internet and youve got nothing better to do.....instead of judging what is and isnt good, with no experince and a bad attitude, go surf what you like and enjoy that....or do you have self esteem issues that require the belittling of others to make yourself at ease with you short comings......

have a nice day

Nice wave Doggie.

Amazing how no matter what someone rides a good wave is a good wave plain and simple.

These shots are fantastic, it is really difficult to get the sup in that position in the tube, the physical strength required and the skill/ balance create a huge challenge to achieve it, to make an offhand remark like Legion, to detract from the original intention and divert discussion away to himself, and not fully understand what is involved in the process in immature, antagonistic and reminds me of a medical condition known as Attention Deficit Syndrome. On a positive note it can be cured, some doctors prescribe drugs, change of diet but in this case I think if the bloke in question just take his hands of his old fella I am sure that will solve the problem and ensure that the forum reverts to a more mature level of interaction amongst people with a genuine interest in the sport.

I think you're supposed to have the paddle next to you, not between your legs doggie.

Thanks to laceys lane, Gorgo, CMC, OG SUP and Bnaccas. Between you you've mostly answered my (i) question. No-one addressed (ii). The rest of you, it's laughable how butthurt you get "defending" your sport.

OG SUP, I'll freak out along with you when you post your sequence like this one.

Lol!! It was nice up their, the water was so clear I paddled to a bit of reef and could see heaps of bright coloured fish. It was a low swell day so I just potted around the bay. Once I got used to the paddle and found out how to use it properly I got some good speed up.
I dont know how you blokes do it in the surf I had enough problems staying on the dam thing! I even tried a 9,6 longboard a while ago as well, just to big for me to handle, def not my scene. Im just a skinny white boy

I did. It's because he can. When you're stoked on something you want to do it. The concept of the best thing for the job is irrelevant.

I fly a paraglider. I freely admit that hang gliders are superior aircraft and sailplanes are better again. I don't fly them because I don't want to. I want to fly a paraglider.

The same trolling happens on the windsurf forum. Many of them would be far better off in most conditions using kites. That is irrelevant. They don't want to. They want to windsurf. That's all there is to it.

I want to surf on a SUP. I enjoy it. It's what I want to do.

Ultimately all this is about self-image and living out your fantasies. When I had a longboard I could visualise myself stroking powerfully into waves, pausing part way through the press up as the wave takes the board, then hopping to my feet and trimming down the line.

Now I see myself positioning on my SUP, placing a few power strokes to take the wave, stepping back and dropping into a bottom turn. Powring out over a near breaking wave is such a great feeling. It's what I want to do.

I suspect with Scott McKercher he is stoked on getting good waves on boards he has helped to design, and getting some exposure for his sponsor and all that other stuff.

legion !!!!!! mate how much deeper do you want ??? thats one of the better backdoor sequences I,ve seen in a while , and to answer your question why chase down pumping waves on a sup? instead of switching back to a shorty ,I say if you think you can make it, then why the hell not, charge on !!!!!!!!
