mitzi!!!!! i googled it, but i still don't know what it means

i've had two runs on the board today and one on micks yesterday.

despite that cmc fella having a dig and i said i'm not claiming anything- well i'm gonna take that back'

it just keeps getting better each time.

dvs supplied the mick and kelly with a upright ish , not to wide, late rake fin- he recommended that fin.

well i said no i'll use the axe fin i always use thankyou. umm it was too stiff and surfing it in was hard. dvs was right. i whipped down to shapers and got this.

seemed pretty close

guess i was wr,wr wro wrong. unreal such a narrow fin works so well

cheers

yeah, i think it would be reasonable to say the gold coast sup builders scene is influenced by the prone board guys.

pretty exciting times here with clubbies, oc crew, ski paddlers etc all starting to show interest in the dw side of sup ping

So what does this do to the value of the old model boards?

It doesnt really matter overall...
LK don't hold their value because every two months or so you get a stock of board going for half price on the market screwing the LK second hand market. That happened with the hand layed orca and the vacuum bagged one too...
It's good if you want a good board cheap because they are decent items, it's bad if you already have one

that pretty much happens with most boards. the moulded boards did cop a caning for sure.

however, this board is a quality item- i don't believe that will happen to the manta models

the lahui kai haven't changed to much until now

cheers

I dont think LK are alone in that boat, seems other custom race sups are flooding the market also. With a new design each week and a battle between customers to have the latest fastest board(in their mind), makes for a buyers paradise....just go through the buy and sell here and take your pic....lots to choose from

True but but you dont see DC, Naish or the other respected top brands drop 50% of their value within less than a year. Only the odd exception of a forced sale (Lacey mainly ).

Even though DC floods the market from time to time, the boards still enter the market at a decent price which in return guarantees a good resale value for the existing owners (understand here it makes it easier to upgrade to the next board).

I hope LK sort that side of their business in the fututre because from a board point of view, they're a good piece of kit.

This is not isolated to custom race SUPs. It's a sales pitch for people to buy stock pop outs. Break it down who has sold a Naish glide at a decent price lately??

The reality is that most people who bought any board a year or so ago and are trying to resell it will be dissapointed if they are comparing purchase price to what the used market wants to pay. The AUD was about 85 cents then and is now 1.06 and prices of new boards of any kind have come down. Good news is new are even better value, used are a reflection of the current new price.

From what I can tell and from selling my own boards used it's pretty much relative depreciation for either. BTW I have never had any board for sale on this classifieds for more than 3 days, I have never owned a pop out either.

Pretty hard for DC to flood the market when he personally designs, shapes, glasses, sands, grips each board on his own. If he's going flat out he can make 2 per week.

From what I know there was a change to the LK business structure that made it necessary to sell some stock quickly. This happens in every business from time to time. They make great product and for those who do not know Dick Van Straalen is one of the true legends of surf and paddleboard design globally and has been for a long time. It is no surprise that he is taking a different approach to design or that it works as well or better than most boards.

C'mon CMC, you were free to take the piss with Lacey. His original post was at 11.43am and he was already taking back to claim about not going to claim by 3.21pm - couldn't help himself - classic, he almost lasted 4 hrs.

That board does look really nice though and if DVS was the main design influence then I am sure it will be very good.
