PUMPING Janbruun I first surfed outside corner Uluwatu in 1980. I went back in 2006 got outside corner pumping again but too crowded. Uluwatu is more crowded than Burleigh

I wrapped my paddles in bubble wrap and tape to sup deck and put towels on top. Over cautious I am. But I saw a guy tape his paddle to his sup bag no protection ,it was fine, up to you.

Middle of last year via Garuda had two paddles in paddle covers taped around a spare alluminum one (in the middle) and rolled up in bubble wrap with about 5 bits of tape that could be removed easily for inspection.

I carried a spare roll of tape ( cargo hold luggage ) but not in carry on luggage as they will take it off you....

no problems, damage at all.....Garuda were very good

Great photos , JB,

Reminded me of a time when I piked out on a surf there one day .

We had walked down from the road ( couldn't drive down at that time about 1980 or 81 )

As we got closer the person carrying my board started making oohhh noises , we could then here the gigantic " slapping sound " of the lip hitting flat water!!

Took one look at it and said "no way"

Just sat on the top of the cliff in the hut and watched . we think someone said it was Martin Potter , doing vertical under the lip re-entry's awesome surfing .

Not many other people surfing it that day ....to big .

The first time I surfed it ,I did a bottom turn and got absolutely smashed , wasn't ready for the power / speed of it .

There was a couple of boards snapped ,

No g-land yet. Maybe this year. Last year with familly didn't have time.
I think g-land would be sick on sup, hang up around kongs and the ledge.
Speedies would be abit crowded I think.

Yeh Sands I had similiar experience, been there numerous times but this time before dawn paddled out with out checking it out first, got out just passed racetracks, got hit a couple times by what was a reasonable size set, kept going, then this effyn set from the horizon came in bigger then any freight trains i have seen, scraped over the top of each wave, effyn freaked, then another set came in bigger, man I reckon I had paddled half way back to Australia, mmm then I had to get in before the tide was in and the sweep pushed you past the cave, that was a trail also... way outa my depth but survived, certainly a place to respect

Blade edge down on grip. With some bubble wrap under paddle gap for strength so it can't crack or break. As I said over cautious

thanks I would have thought blade edge up not sure if bubble wrap will keep it from snapping with a hard knock

That's why I use a towel around shaft and pack under gap of blade.
