We had perfect race conditions today for our last SHQ flatwater race.

I have more pics and a race vid from my Javelin.

Cam won the open and Rea won the womens... I came 4th on the 14' Jav.. (beaten by a Naish 17.. a DC 16.. and a 16' Pene.

I was planning on coming but just before I left I checked the cams at Big Left and changed my mind - beautiful conditions today. Glad it went well.

Thanks DJ,
great shot of the course in the first pic showing the still conditions this morning,
straight off the beach ,around the yellow pole ,head down to the cliffs in the left of the shot and back again,
what it doesn't show is the 100's of jelly fish just below the surface that when lined up just right with the fin give a sudden stop of progress,
was a top day,

Cheers.

All I saw was the fat arse ends of 4 x Naish 14' Glides for the whole race.

So in order of boards, it must have been something like...

Naish Glide 17
DC 16
Pene 16
Naish Javelin 14
Naish Glide 14
Naish Glide 14
Naish Glide 14
Naish Glide 14

And then the rest of us mortals on 12'6 and under.

Congrats to Camo and Rea who have consistently kicked our collective butts all Summer.

My lower back must have murdered someone in a past life because this morning it's paying for something that I didn't do.

Another great day of supping on the bay, perfect conditions and good turn out, a big thanks to SHQ for the hard work in organizing the series and of course all the sponsers, with a special thankyou to cabinha for the big prize, which was duly won by my son. I am sure in a few more sessions he will give cammo, matt's and dj competition, I....no, we are looking forward to getting the new board in the surf, good stuff....

Hey Matt.. Cam on his Naish 17 was so far out in front you can't see him in the vid.. A guy paddling Dave's 16' DC was in second place and I caught him (but I almost burst a ****er valve doing it) but about half way back on the return leg I put the power on to try and pass him to make it a Nasih one-two finish but he knew I was there and he had more strength than me so I had to settle for third... and then not far from the finish this guy on your old Penetrator came cruising past me.. I didn't have much left to put on a challenge to him so I had to settle for 4th in the end... The board (the Javelin) feels very fast but you still have to paddle it.. It doesn't give you a free ride or anything.. I'm sure you'll love it.

Well done Tony.. You were powering along with that big paddle and even though you fell a few times because you hit jellies you finished strong in third.. If the race was longer I'm sure you'd be second going by the speed that you had at the end.

Stuey will be rapt to know the Pene that used to be AA's and then Lumers is still going so strong.

Great job Tony. If not for the trained jellies tripping you up, you may have even been within sight of Camo the Invincible.
