Photos of the South Coast this morning

Jason took me to a scary place this morning!

After making it over one of these, and watching J wear one on the head, I decided I would sit off to the side and play photographer!

Had my new lumix with me, set on video, but since the surface was quite bumpy the video footage was a bit hard to watch so I made a few stills instead.

It actually wasn't all that hard to paddle out, there was just one wide-ranger set came through at an inopportune time. I didn't think I would get over it: I felt like I was paddling uphill for ages before I went flying into the air off the top. All I could think is "please let me come down on top of the board still, and please let me stay on in case there is another one behind this one!". I stayed on, stayed standing & paddled my guts out once I landed!!!!!!!

Once I had experienced the wide one once, I knew how far over to sit to be out of the way. Jason got heaps of good waves but it was hard to watch as I really had to keep an eye on what was coming my way and once he was past me, I was lucky to be able to see the top of his head occasionally!

I only caught one wave, that was a nice little one back to the beach! and yes that is an island you can see in the background, so it was quite a nice long ride in.

Hey Mel, nice shots, good on you for getting out there!!

The Lumix is great eh, I've got the 3m one and the digital video is very good especialy in HD mode.
