Big winner today was Chris Clarke who won the Main Race, the Sprint Race, the Family Race (along with his daughter), and then won a Fanatic Falcon race board in the lucky dip random prize draw. Unbelievable.
Jean Ringrose also had a great day, winning both Main and Sprint Races in the Womens. Matt Nottage finished third outright and was also the first Under 18 Boy. Kristi Page continued her winning ways among Junior Girls. Dean Elcoat was the leading Over 40 Male. Warwick Lee was first across the line on a 12'6" and was also the top Over 50.
Special credit for outstanding sportsmanship goes to Luke French who was in second place as pace setter, Chris Clarke appeared to be heading in the wrong direction and on his way to disqualification at the end of the first lap. Luke called out to Chris and corrected his course, allowing Chris to stay in the race and eventually win.
Another terrific event organised by the SUPB StKilda crew.
Here are the full results...
Thanks PT, this was a epic day for the Clarke family. Thanks for all of your hard work and that of all the Sup Vic guys that put in at all the Sup Vic race's.
Must also thank Stand Up Paddle Boarding HQ, (SUPB) for running the day.
My Fanatic 14x25, along with my Ke Nalu paddle are working a treat.
Well done to all the divisional winners and place getters. I wasn't easy staying if front of Luke, he kills it in all the race's he enters. Well done team RPS!!!!
Sorry, also have to thank Luke for yelling out to me at the end of the first lap, I didn't see the marker near shore and just about missed the last turn.
Thanks Luke!!!!
Sounds like a clean sweep Chris, great effort mate,
where was Luke when I needed him in the GMP 2011?
Great way to spend Australia Day!
Thanks to the guys at Sup HQ for continuing to run an iconic Vicco sup event.
To PT and Deano for the course design and setting, it worked well given the wind strength and direction.
And to the RPS Team for putting in such a massive effort!!
Thanks again to the Vic Sup Community for coming down and supporting our event. We are pleased to announce we raised heaps for Earthcare St Kilda, they wanted to pass on their thanks to all participants for your wonderful efforts!
Congratulations to all the participants, many of who were novice paddlers. As mentioned Chris Clarke cleaned up and needed a wheelbarrow to cart off all his prizes!
A big thanks to Fanatic, Naish, Oakley, Kite Republic, Phill Page of Sea Me Surf Photography and Kahuna Street SUP and of course the team from SUPVIC who's input before and on the day was invaluable!
It was a great way to spend Australia Day. Plenty more great events coming up with the RPS series, SHQ Cruise to Cerberus etc - check out the SUPVIC website for more details!
Well done to Warwick from RPS for winning the AFL footy tickets to any game at Etihad Stadium this year, I gotta funny feeling he might choose a Carlton Game!
We will update some pics of the day shortly!
Thanks Mick and Phil.
Fortunately the Blues have a few matches at Etihad in 2013.
If you're doing a paddle gig with the my beloved team again, give me a yell and I'll give you a hand!
The Port Phillip Cup was an outstanding success and the smiles on the faces tell the story. Even with overcast conditions nothing was going to stop the fun!
Top effort yet again from Phil and Mick from SUPHQ and The SUP VIC team hosting the event.
Couple images from the event:
Great pics, thanks Phil. Except for one of me that is - oh dear! Never mind, I was obviously working pretty hard of looking like a fool anyway! Had a great day :)
