Hi guys and girls,
Don't forget the Port Phillip Cup is on again Sunday 26th of January 2014! Bring the whole family and pets down for an action packed day with the main race starting at 9am. The course will be posted shortly. A big thanks to the following who have helped us get the event off the ground with Fanatic, Naish, Warrick from RPS, Oakley, Kristi and Phill Page from SUP Addiction, Obsurfation, Core Boardsports, Kite Republic, Ocean Grove Netball Club, Paul from The Zu Boardsports, Street SUP, SUP magazine, Nick from Sunny King, St Kilda Earthcare and last be not least Paul, Tim and crew from SUPVIC.
Lots of prizes up for grabs - boards, paddles, merchandise, sunglasses, massage vouchers, AFL footy tickets - too many to mention! SUP Yoga demos, kids races, family races, sprint king races etc and our famous 'Board and Pet Race' are all back on this year. Dogs have dominated the board and pet race for the last five years - surely it's time for a pony, goldfish, bird or cat to take out line honours!
For more info, please email us at 0416 184 994! Best dressed paddler in the theme of Australia Day wins a great prize!
Looking forward to it! Was a great event last year. Hoping to bring some friends to have a go. This sort of event is great for introducing people to the sport, because it really showcases the potential and diversity, as well as the community.
Just a quick note to say that the Port Phillip Cup and Social Paddle is on next Sunday!
You will not have to pre-register this year with us or SUPVIC, registration will be done on the morning. We will be open for registration at 07:30am with the main 6km race to start at 9am sharp. $20 entry fee which goes to Earthcare, St Kilda.
Categories and the course will be posted shortly!
Cheers
Phil and Mick

The RPS trailer is already packed with a fine range of demo boards and paddles.
We'll have boards from Naish, Fanatic, Starboard, DC/NSP, all-rounders, compact wave, race and a bunch of really cool inflatables.

It's looking perfect..
Thanks to Paul Harrington SUPVIC for the course outline as below!
Please note the last turning buoy near the beach will be placed about 20 metres off shore. It is a very similar course to last year.
The course is 1.5km so it will be 4 laps for the racers and 2 laps for the social paddles.
We have secured a lot more prizes and would like again to thank all the sponsors for their generous support. We have been very humbled by the SUP communities support for this race.
Look forward to raising lots of money for Earthcare! And the weather looks perfect!

Dj, are you conducting guided tours?
I'm really looking forward to having everyone paddling at my second home..
Sounds like a plan..
DJ,
can I make a booking for 2 daughters (who think you're cool), and one newbie wif, who has decided that I'm spending too much time paddling with "other women".
Warwick, looks like I need another board. Doh!
Well what a day - 60 paddles in the main race and social paddle and over all 120 people competing over all the 6 races, not to mention three canines. We were very humbled by the support of our event. Your contribution to the day supported our favourite charity Earthcare so a big thanks from us.
Official results to be posted soon - Heath M cleaned up in the men's as did Jean R in the women's. The Kale family was in everything! Warrick Lee from RPS won his race but donated his paddle prize back into the prize pool which was later drawn as a random prize - a very generous effort mate, thanks! Lenny won the Fanatic Board.
A big thank-you to all those sponsors that made the day possible - Naish and Fanatic - thanks again for your great support, Warrick and team from RPS, Paul and crew from Zu Boardsports, David and co from Core Boardsports, Kristi Page from SUP Addiction who did the massive kids clinic, Sea Me Surf Photography Phill Page and family, Nick from Sunny King, Obsurfation, Chris and Sarah from Kite Republic, Karina and Elvin - Kahuna Street SUP, Port Phillip Council, Greg and team from Ocean Grove Netball Club for providing the BBQ, our favourite SUP identity DJ for taking video of the day, Paul, Tim and team from SUPVIC who's planning and direction was invaluable on the day. Hope we didn't forget anyone... Many travelled from past Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula for the event, so great effort!
There are many more SUP events to come in Melbourne over the Summer. Hope to see you all there!
that 2nd photo with all the kids doing the Toyota ad with Kristi is priceless Phil, best stoke photo I've seen for a while.
Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers for a great day, young Azza is stoked with his new paddle.
Cheers Mel
