Hay mate
The races on this weekend can you enter on the day?
I just got off crutches and will know for sure tmoz if I can paddle but will not be able to run very far will there be any running at start of Finnish?
If So how far ? I know there will be some sort of beach Finnish which won't be a problem it's just if it's going to be a long run say 500 meters I might be in trouble
Answer:
Yes you can enter on the day mate. The course is pretty close to shore and we have 2 safety boats on water and about 8 qualified first aiders at the event. One of the safety boats will be travelling with the pack during the race, so anytime anyone needs assiatance, it is right at hand. We anticipate most people should complete the downwinder event between an hour and an hour and a half max. If there are any competitors still on course at the end of the second hour, when the race is officially declared ended, they will be assisted back to shore by the safety boat.
Race is beach start and beach finish, right off the water's edge. So it will not be a long run.
Hope to see you on the weekend! If you leg is not good enough, do come down to support the event or lend us a hand!
Regardless of who's name is on the event, what divisions and what prize money, the most important thing here is another SUP event promoting the sport. I'd be there if I wasn't working and I encourage anyone that can make it to do so. At the moment SUP is being tagged along with a lot of sports/organisations (Australian Outrigging titles, Surfing Australia titles, Pacific Ocean Series etc), but at the end of all this the SUP community will win and that is what is most important. As Teatree said "let them fight it out" beacuse unless we all agree with what they do for the SUP community they won't be worth anything. It's early days in our sport and for all the organisation when it comes to their relationship with SUP.
Fantastic turn out this morning for the downwinder. 17 competed and all completed. We had to use our secondary course from Nudgee which was only just under 5km instead of the Redcliffe 13km course due to wind directions, but everyone had a good race.
Congrats Jake Jensen and Alison Fullegor from the Gold Coast in coming first in the Open Men and Open Ladies. Jake merely took only 25minutes to complete the 4.8km course, and took home the $1000 cheque, thanks to ASI. Also thanks Hive for throwing out $900 worth of vouchers to the girls.
Thanks for ASI, SUPA, Hive and all our volunteers. Great first event here in Brisbane and we shall for sure be hosting next year's event!

Thanks to ASI, SUPA, Hive and all the volunteers, especially Paddy and Tanya for a very well run event. Briefings and organization were professional and I look forward to competing there again. Sandgate is a good middle point for both coasts and the chop and conditions can make for a challenge.
Thanks.
Great event, positive people, enjoyed the race, safety brief was very professional and a great crew running the show. Will definitely be back next year. Thanks to the organisers and guys & gals for such a fast pace.
Cheers.
Sounds like a good day
Are you still running the 6 k race tmoz and the 1500? Might come up for a look if it's on

Thanks to SUPA and Brisbane SUP Club for a very well run event, the first race event they have run. Hopefully the numbers will grow for the next one.
Congrats to our two Squad paddlers, Jake and Dylan, 1st and 3rd.
Jake already has a great future off the back of some great results last year and Dylan, who's only been at it for a few months, is starting to look the goods.
Go the teenagers...
Another great result Ali, one of our accomplished women from the Roar/Quantum Paddling Group. the cross-training is woking.
