Hi, are these RFD smoke flares waterproof?
I can see a seal when they are out of the pack
Cheers Chris

No and if you are in really in trouble parachute flares can be seen from miles away , the smoke flares really are pretty useless (especially at night) and are only good if someone is in sight of you or there is a heli above.

Get some of the new small parachute flares they are still cheap , just keep them in a soft water proof jacket like the old mobile phone ones Just one tip on firing a parachute flare , shoot it with the wind NOT AGAINST it's a rocket and rockets climb windward , if you fire it into the wind it will not reach it's full height or even dive into the sea. So, fire about 10 to 15 degrees off the vertical downwind for maximum height, about 1000m.

These are the flares I'm talking about. www.bargainboatparts.com/index.html

You can see in this shot how low the smoke stays.
