Sunrise is perfect for an early!

Plan is to hit the water at Dead Man's Cove at 6.30am and paddle either to Sandy or back to Table Rock.

All welcome, a few us will probably end up having a solid session and there will be a few crew just enjoying a cruise, so you can pick your preferred pace.

Maybe next week. I'm a bit too far away just now. But have a great paddle.

Fluked it this morning and I was supposed to ride, not stroke, but when the alarm went off at 5.30am, I checked the wind and it was 3 kts, n/ne.

No brainer, went to meet up with the the crew at Dead Man's at a tick after 6 and
bugger me if they were already out and half a km up the road!

Anyway, it turned out to be one of those perfect windless, glassy, warm mornings.
Alsup and Rob were also out along with a big pack of Life Savers training on their rescue mals. Interestingly enough, when I was paddling flat chat next to very experienced L/S paddler, we were neck and neck, except he was stroking xxx amount of strokes, gliding and then repeating the process. I was paddling non-stop and still just holding him. The glide on the rescue mals is quite amazing!
I know if we hit wind and chop it would be a non-contest. Rescue mal would win hands down.

All round great morning

Dead Man's Cove won't appear on any maps named as such. It's actually Half Moon Bay aka Black Rock. Also the home of the Cerberus wreck. Recently dubbed Dead Man's Cove after a scuba diver went missing leading to several days searching before he was sadly discovered drowned beneath the wreck.

After almost a week of less than perfect weather for paddling, tomorrow sees the return of conditions conducive to an early morning paddle.

Forecast for Wednesday
Winds: Northwesterly 10 to 15 knots with afternoon seabreezes of a similar strength. Seas: Around 0.5 metres.

I'm planning to paddle at 6am sharp from Dead Man's Cove to Green Pt return. Total distance should be around 12kms. Light headwind there and a quick return trip. Think of it as training for the GMP! See anyone who's interested at 5.50am.

PT.....pack the K15!

Hi Pt,warick
with regard to the dead man's cove name the scuba diver went looking for crabs in the cerberus wreck at about 8.30 at night,.... by himself... bloody mad,....he was reported missing, anyway next few days there was a huge search and rescue operation, police divers combed the wreck, speed boats, helicopters the lot, over the next few weeks more searches were done and maybe a couple of months after, another search was completed and they found the trapped diver, it would have been pretty freaky coming across the diver after he was submerged for a few months , the cerberus is about 200 foot long and was able to accommodate over 100 crew in its day, so there must be lots of rooms and compartments down there under the water, anyway enough of the history, see you in the morning for a paddle

Hey Ock,
I affectionately named it Dead Man's, as I happened to paddle at HMB on the days' he went missing, as well as the evening the body was retrieved.

This was a shot taken the evening the police were recovering the body. It was deathly calm, quite serene. Odd thing was, despite there being police everywhere, I was oblivious to the situation at first and as I paddled out, I noticed red rose petals in the water for quite a distance and then I twigged!

I used to regularly dive the Cerebus 30 years ago and it's not somewhere you would want to become disoriented in, day or night!

Looking forward to paddling in the morning.

Yeah, sorry fella's clicked on the wrong image in my gallery.
My windsurf pic looked pretty tasty for a downwinder though!
Not quite sure what soundtrack you'd put to a video for it though?

Yep DJ, it is me. It was taken a couple of years ago in April during one of those once in a decade storms. Fawkner Beacon recorded a 62 knot gust! Direction was n/nw. Perfect for a downwinder.

Mark seemed pretty excited tonight when he picked up the Naish 14.

It looked good on top of his VW as he loaded it. I can't believe we've got him to sacrifice a morning on the bike for his first sup session!

Subtle.....leaving the copy of Sup World on his doorstep DJ. Nice work!
