If anyone's holding back due to the weather "don't" it's looking fantastic!!!!!
Sunny (1-2 ft waves, light NW winds in the morning and a light NE sea breeze fluffing up around 1pm)
Happy days crew!!!

Current forecast is for 3 knot winds and 0.8m waves. Coolum will still produce a small wave but this should be fantastic conditions on this forecast for all levels of ability.

Keep those regos coming. Entries are looking good so far...

It is only with great numbers can we hope in this sport to gain sponsors to pay the cost of such events. If you have thought about it then enter now.

You can but they are dearer at the gate. I still have 4 tickets left at $85 if you want one (or four)

All tickets through the club need to be collected on Saturday at the commentators tent. None for sale there.

Hi teatree
Yep Kids no worries,
Last year they had a fenced off section to keep the kids out of the adult section, or is it the other way around?

Seriously it was well set up because there is kids /no beer drinking side, and then the other side was the adult/beer drinking side. So fun for all. Should be a great night out.

Over 50 entered in the race so far. Going to be a battle large. Entries are still open on the SQ website.

Slight format change to ensure good racing in all divisions as some divisions have smaller numbers then others.

Women

2 Race Format.

Round one will be 3 laps. This race will have $300 for first place and also will be used to work out the winners of the over 40's and Over 50's.
All will be included in the Open race.

Round Two will be the final and a 2 lap race. A number of women will be eliminated from round one. This number will be advised on the day. Prize money here will be $400 and a bonus $100 if the same person wins both.

Men

3 Race Format

Round one will be 3 laps. This race will have $200 for first place and also will be used to work out the winners of the over 40's and Over 50's.
This race will have the Beer Can for older crew and cash can for the Opens.
Approximately 12 Paddlers (confirmed on the day) will be eliminated from the event after this race. The rest will advance to round two.

Round Two will be a 2 lap race with the bottom 12 or so being eliminated from the event. $300 for first place.

Round Three: The Final. This is a 2 lap race with $400 for first place.

B Final
Anyone man or Woman that does not make their final can race in the B Final. This will be a two lap race.

Gu Will have a drinks tent in the area competitors stand between round. We ask that all racers not eliminated from the round immediately place their paddle back on the starting line after they finish.

The above changes have been made to ensure a good spectacle and from the feedback received from many racers. We appreciate your input.

Jonsey is currently working out the heat draws for the surfing events on Sunday. These will be available on the day.

See you all there

Beau Nixon and Geoff Breen will be surfing. No.1 and 4 respectively. Also a cracker of a field racing.

Will Kelly take out two in a row. Or is this the year for Beau, Jacko, Lincoln, Jonsey, or Peasy. Or maybe the southern crew like Christopher Parker or Andy Davies. Maybe it is in the local crew of Marcel, Trevor or Rusty. Or just ME!!!!

In the ladies there will be a great battle against Angie, Sondra, Simone or will Karla Gilbert take the field. Don't forget or local girl who is steaming up the leader board, Jayne.

These are just a few of the talent which looks endless.

trying to tick all the boxes right for this week end
Over 50's : done long time ago
Over 10" : just got it

Since I think it is the first SUP surfing contest with an over 10" category, dale decided to make 2 10" models, (one more nose rider that the other) and to simply call them DC Coolum so that this event will be remembered at being the 1st one to propose this category

Hi Teatree

Swapping on the day will be as simple as giving Jonsey a big smile and Woogie a big hug...... They're in charge.
No probs at all. We still have room in each division so bring both boards and you may get to surf in both.
Remember the over 10' will be judged on old school surfing techniques.

No big rush in the morning. The womens will be on at about 8am and the men not until about 9:30 ish

Don't forget you all have to check in at the Surfing Qld marquee when you arrive. Beside the numbers on you we will be using silicone colour bands to distinguish age brackets in the first three laps. After the first round all will be in opens.

Please return the silicone bands so we can reuse them.
