Here is the Registration Gateway:
http://www.wa.canoe.org.au/event.asp?ID=15278&format=popup

There are limited numbers due to scheduling, so the racing is capped at 60 (24 Male 12'6, 24 Male 14' and 12 Female 12'6).

ENTRIES CLOSE ON MONDAY THE 5TH NOVEMBER.

So get your entries in quick!!

1. Select the over 12yrs division
2. Fill in all details (This is a combined SUPWA/CWA event so they need details for day insurance)
3. Payment on the day to SUPWA $10 members $20 non members (ignore prices on the CWA page)
4. For "Club" put SUPWA - this helps with formatting later.
5. You can select 12'6 and 14' divisions if you are feeling strong!
6. There is ONLY FEMALE 12'6 DIVISION FOR THIS RACE.(no female 14' board division)
7. You choose OPen, Over 40 and Over 50 on the day.

Any issues with registration, PM me.
Cheers

Greg

The format is a 200m sprint in 3 heats of 6 -8. The first couple go through to the semi and the rest go thru the reparchage. Semis, then finals - so you are assured of at least 2 races and up to 4.

After the top 12 have been sorted there is the Battle of the paddler on Starboard stock boards - this is the first time this concept of racing has been done anywhere in the world. Paddlers will be weighted in their race gear and <80kg will race against each other on 12'6s. Over 80kg will race separately on 14'. all women will race on 12'6 stock boards.

The present record for 200m is 53 secs (Jim Terrell - USA).

The course is fantastic (this is an old photo - race towers, sheds and starting pontoons are now up):

Bump, last chance guys.

I'm in, albiet probably at the expense of competing in the wedge wavekiting state titles which are on on the same weekend (does this mean I have been converted?, might have to change my username )

The kiting is a 2 day comp so with any luck (for me anyway ) the wind will be late coming in on Saturday and I can race straight from the Black Blade up to Wedge, gunna be a long day.

We have 40 entries for the Starboard Black Blade. All divisions are booked out now - except there is one place left in the 12'6 male division.
(PM me if you want to take this as a late entry)

Race Draw is nearly finished and the conditions for Saturday look great. This should be a fantatsic day. Don't forget to sign up for the Peter Dorries Coahing Clinic - you missed out of entering the Black Blade come up ealry to watch the racing and attend the coaching clinic.

Alot of work has gone into this event from CWA and SUPWA in organising event draws and how the heat, semi and final system will work. There is plenty of time between races to recover and the top 8 female and male 12'6 will contest the Battle of the Paddler later in the morning. The top 12 male 14' will contest the Battle of the Paddler at lunchtime.

It will be a long morning and all the racing will finish at 1400. We are sharing the event with CWA, so there will be exciting races for K1, K2 events as well and the first time that a sprint SUP championship has been held in Australia. Make sure you bring water, food and shade. This event is about having an opportunity to get to know other paddlers, supporting and cheering on some great on the water battles.
