I've had this annoying problem with transporting my sup over longer distances. Basically when driving over 80kph an annoying rattle/drone begins. I don't remember this happening when I used to transport a kayak which was far heavier and bulkier.

At first I thought it must have been my paddle vibrating against the board but it's not. I've been carrying my new werner paddle inside lately and I've still been getting the same noise.

I have the nose of the board to the front of the car and the fin sticks up in the air. I will spin the board around next time and give that a try.

However, I'm interested if anyone else knows about this and if they have any home baked remedys.

Hey oliver I think I know what your problem is....It's the straps...they vibrate.

Some straps do it more than others..and it also depends on the wind.

Sometimes they're fine and you turn into a headwind and they drone and vibrate like crazy.

Notice this pic of JB's boards..Notice the twist in the straps.

Just one twist should be enough..also boards with concaves (like the Naish) do it worse.

Let me know it this fixes it..

I get the same thing happening with my naish and i was told to put a twist in the stap's as well. This does help and it seem's that the more twist's the better IMO.

I only do this when i go out of town because at the lower speeds it doesn't seem to be as annoying.
