A few photos from the comp at Palmy on the weekend. Insane surfing as usual. I am always in awe.
They are only from 1 or 2 heats as I was either judging or surfing.

You can check out more photos here:

There was some amazing surfing going on. It seems to get better every comp.
You're right Dan, insane turn from Marty, especially when you see how late his bottom turn was.
I'm going to have to loose some inches off my board and some inches off my gut if I even want a sniff of the semi's.

Cheers SupaTrooper, wish I had of taken more though.

Here are the results from the final:
1. Kai Bates
2. Toby Cracknell
3. Chucky Domin
4. Harry Maskell
5. Steve Piper
6. Gareth Grant
The semis were like finals, especially the one the included Marty and TC.
The young guys were amazing in the small waves.
Thanks to the Naish guys (JB and Andy) for bringing the NISCO boards - so much fun.
For the record, Toby convincingly won the NISCO race - good luck in California Tobes.

Yeah, great day! Chucky third, wow! Pretty impressive to see big units like Chucky and Steve shredding in 1-2'!
The young guys were going nuts! Between Kai, Harry and Big Grom Toby it was a total grom shred fest out there!
New Naish's were going off!

Props to the new committee and a seamless transition. Casso should be proud!

Great shots Mick, thanks heaps and you ripped it up as well for a big bloke in tiny waves.
No easy heats and multiple countbacks for multiple places in multiple heats. High wave counts and often three riders up at the same time made the day fly by. Nobody or board maker dominated all their heats and our semi was a smoker.
Thanks to all who judged. The seeding system almost worked!
I found the head judge role way more stressful than competing.

The Naish crew did an awesome job and racing was entertaining as well as fun. Thanks to all of them. A lot of yellow around! New boards look fantastic but had no chance to demo one.
Well done Kai and Toby on the well earned wins. And to all the crew for having a go.

Gotta lov the new yellow boards.

Great day, and very well run by the committee for their first go.. looked like they had been doing it for ever.. - Casso didn't know what to do with himself - all that time on his hands.......

Amazing level of surfing, especially by the 3 young groms.....

Nice Pics S4S, wow Marty...thats about as vert as your gunna get! Thanks for a great day...Casso's club is in great hands.... but how good are the gromets surfing!!! Good luck to Kai, Toby and Beau in the USA. They are off to slay some bigger fish. Oh...and one more thing... I'm no sup racer but I highly recommend having a crack at the Nisco race boards if you get a chance, they are so much fun! thanks to JB and the Nash crew.......They aren't as easy to surf as some people make it look, but that just ad's to the fun factor.

Greats shots from a killer day. Well done to Marty handling the head judging role with ease. Some of those placements were hard to count back on hey. Chuck and Kissa too, well done. Not to mention Andre with providing some great food..

Things are looking great for season. It was good fun getting amongst with the groms. Harry rips.. Also good seeing the guys mixing it up with different boards as the waves were pretty small. TC on his log_sup was good to watch..

Looking forward to the next one. yewwww

Awesome photos and videos and this club rocks, Casso has done so much for us on the Northern Beaches, thanks mate.

Here is an idea? as boards get lighter and shorter and narrower lets keep in the flow with the demographic of the sport as well. Not all have the knees and back of a spiderman. So ,,, Lets have a 10.6 and over division even if it is a straight final and those who enter that cant go in the "short division". I know I have championed this for a while and rode protest contests on my 11.2 at times.

Its just that its cool and a cool feeling and I still get my 9.10 out when its pumping on the points. Ah yeah love that.

I am with Buffalo big boards are always in.

What do you think?

Can do a seperate thread if needed?

Stuart, a division for the bigger boards and the bigger Groms is being worked out as we speak. Stay tuned!

Hey Stu, I like the idea of a 10' + division but i'm not sure if there should be a limit who can surf in it?

You guys are making it look that good I'm going to have to look at getting one of those surf SUP things. Looks like a lot of fun!! Well done to my secret training buddy on a 3rd place.

Agree with Stu, Casso has done a lot for SUP on the Northern Beaches. Great that it's been handed over to someone who is just as keen. Sounds like I need to come up just to sample some of Andre's food.

Is there a "gumby" category?

Sorry mate, not allowed! You bag it out for as long as you did and you have a few more month on the side lines!
As you can see I head up the Gumby division!

Didn't say I'd stop bagging you and Casso out AA. I'd just paddle out to give you guys some laughs.

Supa I know. It's just a long day for some and I do not mind it. I am thinking of getting through the day, not making it too longgggg. Thinking of all those with familys and those where that time on Sunday is a squeeze?

Also it has to,has to, IMO, be a 10.6 and over as 10 against an 11.6 etc still does not work . genuine buffalo class is the go :)
